thanks for the input guys, so using aroma retroarch with ps1 core, will retroarch load with the core automatically, or do i have to specify in the config file

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone working on this! Just installed Aroma beta-20 and the 6/3 RA, and I tried a few NES ROMs (Solomon's Key & SMB/Duck Hunt) which play flawlessly. No luck with Stella 2600 or MAME 2000, but I think I read that these aren't working in the current release. At one point I tried Asteroids Deluxe (0.37b5) using a recently posted MAME 2003, which played but it was slow as molasses. Anyway, really excited about this!
Stella and Mame2000 Cores now work and will be in the official release ;)
hey all, has anyone done a comparison with wiistation on wii u? was about to setup PS1 for a friends Wii U, but was trying to decide between aroma retorarch in wii u or overclocked wiistation? thanks.
I cant say I've done much testing on WiiStation but WiiU PS1 Core is now fullspeed in all games I've tested :)

When you load the Retroarch Channel you can Load content (PS1 game) then you select the Core you want to use.
(or you can create a Playlist, then when you load a game from that list it will boot the Core automatically) :)

To create a Playlist:
Goto Import Content
Select Manual Scan
Select and Set your Content Directory
Set System Name
Set Default Core
Set Scan Recursively to ON
Then Start Scan

Once the scan has finished your Playlist will be displayed down the left of the screen on the Main Menu ;)

You can do the same steps for each System your want to create a Playlist for.

Retroarch PSX core is overall better than WiiStation (in my opinion).
I really hope soon we'll see rumble feature supported in RA.
really much better because there are more correction functions in addition to being a native emulator on the wii u instead of the wiistation which is from the wii the good side and the ps1 has good emulators on both the wii and the wii u

Thanks for your detailed reply!

I use wii emulators for most 8 and 16 bit systems/PS1 and a few n64. Instead of having launchers for each system, is the preferred method to create a playlist for each system with a single app for Aroma Retroarch, rather than have different apps that loads each system and appropriate core? eg, for wii it would be Wiistation, SNES9xtx, mgba, genplusgx, etc

edit: also, am i correct in seeing that N64 development is currently on pause due to devs needing more hardware for further research? thanks.

I finally found the time to put my Wii U to glory again, installing Aroma and all that stuff. Now I'm just waiting patiently for the official release of the Aroma port of RetroArch.
All the Atari Cores are now working.. They come with the release :)
Speaking of which, any estimate for that?
I'm not talking about a specific date but are we talking about days, weeks or even still months at this point? :)
Please Ploggy also FBA. Thank you.
FB Alpha 2012 would be nice since I've got that rom set around due to my retro handhelds. I'm also fine with getting any other rom set for any other FB version if needed though. :)
Btw: Can you say something about MAME 2003 Plus? Is that on the road map too?

It's all personal preference if you want to use Playlists Retroarch gives you that option I personally like to use Playlists since its easy access plus you can then download thumbnails for each game also :)

The N64 Core as far as I know is still being worked on .. latest news there is the dev is having issues getting OpenGL working correctly:

No estimate, there's still stuff that's planned to be added before the release and I don't know how long that will take.
But I've just compiled Mame2003, FBAlpha2012, Atari800, Atari5200, Stella2023 tho so you can at least use them with the current WIP Aroma release ;) @Sowden @depaul

Awesome. <3
Seems like I missed it but... where do you provide the WIP build? This post was last edited on June 4th.

That is the current build :) there maybe a few new/updated Cores added through the thread if you read on from there tho.. (I should really consolidate all the updated Cores into a new pack) :/

I'm still confused. How can a post that you last edited more than a month ago include cores that you've compiled just now since I requested them today? ^^

This is what I mean:

Sounds like you just compiled them and uploaded them somewhere. But where? :D

hey all, it sounds like playlist is the way to go for most of the collection, but is it possible to have a retroarch app that loads a specific core/game, similar to wii single rom loaders/forwarders? eg, have an icon for a particular PS1 game that would load that game+core in retroarch

There are plans for something like that but nothing had been done yet. but that's something I would like too :)
