@SaulFabre did you see xjsxjs197's reply here: https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/issues/139 ?
To me that answer was really strange as the sub file is very small compared to the main image, so you shouldn't need to read it that frequently.
What I think is more plausible is that the general reading routine (for all formats) is not really optimized and the constant access to USB or SD card is causing those stutters.

i have read it, and i am trying to remove support for CCD/IMG/SUB.

There it is.
bruh, literally ALL versions are stuttering? Damn...
i'm running out of ideas for see what's going on... but are you using BIN/CUE? have you tried also CHD?

Well, he hasn't really tested all the versions yet because he still has the PAL version pending.

Anyway, the only version that is worth it is the Japanese version, which has no cut content.

@MeXen You should indicate which video options you are using. It would also be advisable that you provide the save files of the game in the points where you observe problems so that other users can verify it.

As i said, in this experimental branch https://github.com/saulfabregwiivc/WiiStation/commits/ccd-sub-img-support-removal/ here i try to remove the CCD/IMG/SUB support.
Trying to see if here makes the dol a little more small, but don't know if this could break anything. We'll see.

This is an incredible release although I can't help but feel there's been a huge speed penalty? I remember Dead or Alive on PAL being full speed and now it's down to the 40s and even high 30s. It was one of the few "interlaced" games that did run full speed on Wii so you didn't need to enable interlacing.

I can also confirm the earlier reports of emu crashing upon exit, though it isn't a terrible issue it is still bothersome to have to force turn off the wii instead of returning to HBC.
@MeXen @Disorarara

Here's a test version of WiiStation where i modified the cycles multiplication default value to 200. (Default in WiiStation and PCSX-ReARMed is 175; also on WiiStation 2.4 and earlier, that same value was 200)
https://github.com/saulfabregwiivc/WiiStation/commit/8f22c6fae64f1f9aa5d2a5b6cdd20fc8b0899dfb

For change the cycles multiplication default value, go to the file psxcommon.h, then in line 90 change the value in the variable CYCLE_MULT_DEFAULT from 175 to any other number you want, between 150 and (maybe?) 300.

Haven't really tested this change and i don't know if it helps for Castlevania: SOTN, Dead or Alive or other slow games but i just tested Motor Toon Grand Prix (1994 Japanese version), which is known to be slow on both Lightrec and PPC Dynarec, but with this change it actually runs full speed (only tested on Old GPU/P.E.Op.S.).

About the emulator crash at exit, i'm afraid i don't have idea about what's happening here.

all, of these, were BIN/CUE!!! after i stopped using CHD and PBP, no bullshit, gonna test the latest build.

Has anyone tried WiiStation with DualShock 4? because i don't know a way to make it work properly... It doesn't recognize.

PBP is to be avoided?
For testing purposes, yes, stick to bin/cue.

A recent bug report involved someone using PBP, unclear if the format was the cause. PBP doesn't have the same problem that has held up other compressed formats in this emulator, so if you really really want a compression format now it's the one I'd pick.

- On your device, create a folder named controllers in the wiisxrx folder, like this <device>:\wiisxrx\controllers

- Put either 054C_05C4.ini (DS4 v1, "save as" here) or 054C_09CC.ini (DS4 v2, "save as" here) in the controllers folder.

- Launch Wiistation, plug in your DS4, and it should be recognized.

Note: it seems HID controllers are recognized only if Wiistation and the wiisxrx folder are on the SD Card, although it should also work from an USB device.

Nonetheless, I didn't succeed to make Wiistation recognize any of my Dualshock 3 (054C_0268), either by using an USB device or the SD Card. :tpi:
My DS3 are functional with HIDTest and Nintendont, so maybe I do something wrong in the setup with Wiistation.

I use a few files in img/sub and I haven't noticed any compatibility or performance problems so far, is there really any need to remove this support from Wiistation?

I must mention that i came back and before i gave my report, when i said that SotN suffered from stutter, i mean that the scrolling and framerate is stuttery, not the speed, altough on dynarec certain parts are also slower, like the part at the cascade in the ice cave,

well, i am also sorry again to say, nothing really has changed, except that one mode has less frequent stutter

Dynarec + New Soft + no Gauss = Stutter

Lightrec + new soft + no gauss = less frequent stutter

Lightrec + old soft + no gauss = stutter

All of them using BIN/CUE, all SotN US version, my tests are performed mostly on vertical areas when i super jump and in aread with 8 way scrolling.

Sorry SaulFabre, i know you work hard on these, is just that i dont recall this happening on real hardware, plus seems to be the i am the only one currently testing this damn game aside from you maybe.

If it significantly reduces the dol filesize, it mitigates the Wii's proportionally largest weakness as an emulation platform - RAM. The emulator dol has to be loaded into memory alongside everything else.

And remember he's talking about an experimental branch. A decision to use such a modification in the main branch has yet to be made.

Guys, Is it me or i am so bad DDR 3rd mix (jap). Don't know what is happening when i am playing this game
Are there some input lag or delay when are pressed the buttons?
btw. i am using wii motes and nunchuk

are you using Lightrec or Dynarec? Old or New GPU? Turned off Dithering?
don't know if these are related to inpu lag, but just asking.

I think, it s difficult to play with wiimote and nunchuck. but found bug, are missing layers or something Check this image

Using this buid
https://gbatemp.net/threads/wiistation-another-fork-of-wiisxrx-released.614405/post-10433345

Lightrec + old soft + dithering (none)= ok but missing
Dynarec + old soft = black screen
Lightrec + new gpu = ok but missing
Dynarec + new gpu = black screen for long time then runs so slow
i think you're using my build where i modified the CYCLE_MULT_DEFAULT to 200.

While it gives a speed boost, it might break some games.
Better use the builds where the CYCLE_MULT_DEFAULT is untouched (kept in 175).

Can't this be an option to set individual for each game?

It cannot be, especially for those games which don't have an internal CD-ROM ID in its files, however you can modify WiiStation's source code for touch the database and add the CDROM IDs (if exist) for a specific game for use said value of CYCLE_MULT_DEFAULT.

Also, remember the build i posted with that value is experimental and for tests only.

Have you read xjsxjs197's reply here: https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/issues/139 ?
It's pointless to have support for so many formats if none of them works 100%. Before worrying about such a thing, the emulator should be working well with the vast majority of games on the most basic uncompressed format (bin/cue). When that is solved, other formats can be added and be properly debugged.
