Recompiled again WiiStation until git https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/commit/4afbf69b7c00754a0b0a8e06e7dd4de731a02232
but with changes from https://github.com/saulfabregwiivc/WiiStation/commits/newtestlightrecchdmay2024/

What's new:
- Added an option for choose the old GPU plugin based on P.E.Op.S. and the new GPU plugin based on DFXVideo.
Old soft GPU plugin is recommended for most cases, in case the game doesn't work or have issues on the old plugin (ex. Crash Bash, This is Football 2, Bomberman Fantasy Race, etc.), use the new GPU plugin.

- Update yet again Lightrec until git https://github.com/pcercuei/lightrec/commit/caffa935213e0afd82a535b519340ce791b5134d.

PLEASE DELETE YOUR OLD settingsRX2022.cfg FILE BEFORE TESTING!!!!

Please test this new build, thanks ;)

Thanks.

I just tested here and it fix the scaling issue I mentioned about in Chrono Cross game.

In SOTN I didn't notice microstuttering as others or as it used to happen in other builds. If it happens, I didn't notice in the first area of the game. I tested it in 240p using a CRT TV. The only time the framerate took a hit was in the 'game over' melt screen message.

BTW. I had a softlock after trying to quit WiiStation to loader after playing SOTN for 10 to 15 minutes. It was frozen at the WiiStation screen.

Well bro, i play trough the whole game and right now i am around near finishing the inverse castle, also i noticed the stutter more prominently at the catacombs vertical areas.

Came back, SotN stutter issues seem to be permanent for now, tragically, while other games dont have these issues, i should mention that:

Yes i baleted the cfg file
Yes i played SotN sometimes as the first title instead of booting another one and then come back
I use the new GPU plugin

But on the plus side the softlock is gone, again, New GPU plugin

@MeXen Try the game with and without NTSC Forcing and with and without Interlaced, also with Frameskip On and Off and with different combinations of these options.

Fast load will be disabled I guess.

Just to test as a curiosity and see that nothing interferes with this particular game.

@SaulFabre Thanks for these versions mixing the good of the old and the new, the best of both worlds.

Do you think it would be possible to add two extra slots for custom controls?

Hi @SaulFabre

Could you tell me the main differences between the old plugin and the new one?
The old GPU plugin is based on the oldest P.E.Op.S. Soft GPU used in years by the old WiiSX (before 3.0) and its later forks, which in WiiStation, @Jokippo kindly improved it a lot, bringing his changes and fixes here. Faster than DFXVideo but some games don't work fine here.
Also here the Force NTSC option works pretty fine.
Use this plugin in most cases/games.

The new GPU plugin is based on the latest GPULIB and DFXVideo, both from the upstream PCSX-ReARMed, slighty slower than old P.E.Op.S. but it's more "accurate" in terms of video emulation. Emulates some effects and special instructions which old P.E.Op.S. can't handle (ex. Crash Bash (pause menu), Bomberman Fantasy Race (Retry/Quit menu), This is Football 2 (complex video instructions)).
Haven't tried Force NTSC option here through.
Use this plugin only if your game doesn't work fine in the old GPU plugin.

Please keep in mind, that both video plugins are software-rendered and not hardware accelerated (yet).

Force NTSC still gives picture errors. At the bottom of the screen artifacts appear, basically the part of the picture that was cut off before is now filled with these artifacts. You will notice this especially in games like Final Fantasy 8 and 9, but not only in those games.

In Jokippo's version this doesn't happen.

The installation is clean, without any files from other versions, and the screen mode is 16:9 (not forced). Tested with both GPUs.

I'm not sure if you have seen it yet on Github, but I did reply back about the GameShark CDX 3.3 patch in that experimental build.
It does indeed work, and I was wondering if you could add it to the latest builds you post here.

try asking again @xjsxjs197 in your issue you opened earlier: https://github.com/xjsxjs197/WiiSXRX_2022/issues/43
btw, i am not really sure about merging the changes for add GameShark CDX support, as since then we had big changes on CDROM/CDRISO handling.

Looks like xjsxjs197 forgot to add this line when Jokippo added this when commited Force NTSC option.

Also, the garbage comes from the game itself since the game can't accept those weird resolutions given by the emulator.
Changing this simple line fixed the issue and the display is the same on the PAL game even if forced to NTSC, at least on the Old GPU.
will pull a fix later.

I fixed the resolution/stretching issues when using Force NTSC option, on all both GPU plugins, both the old GPU (P.E.Op.S.) and the new GPU (DFXVideo).
Althrough the old GPU now can force NTSC correctly now without any garbage on the bottom of the screen, i am not sure if my fix for the force NTSC in the new GPU (for fix incorrectly stretched image) could cause issues on PAL games or even in NTSC native ones. Please help me test here.

I also backported some PCSX-ReARMed latest changes here.

Please test this build, as i'm going to be busy with other things :v

All i've changed can be found here: https://github.com/saulfabregwiivc/WiiStation/commits/forceNTSC-PCSX-fixes-01062024/

Thanks.

Regarding the garbage line at the bottom of the screen, with build 30052024, it is not exclusively related to Force NTSC, and seems to be random, depending of the game.

- I have a garbage line on Ridge Racer 4 NTSC (240p, everything else disabled), only on the game menus (no garbage line during a race). This was already happening in previous builds with PEOpS, and can be fixed by centering the screen in the game options (1 step towards the bottom).

- The garbage line does not appear when forcing NTSC on Colin Mc Rae PAL (PEOpS).

- The garbage line appears on Magical Tetris Challenge PAL (forced to NTSC) with DFXVideo, only if I set back the "Screen adjust" setting to "default" in the game options. It seems the screen is auto-centered when the game is launched.

@SaulFabre Forcing to NTSC now works perfectly with both GPUs, neither clipping the image nor adding strange artifacts. Those two lines of code were the key.

The only thing I noticed is that if you save a separate configuration for a specific game and immediately exit the emulator, the emulator freezes and forces you to disconnect the console (the configuration file for the game is still generated correctly though). If after saving instead of exiting directly you go back to the game and then exit the emulator you return to the homebrew normally.

For the rest, very good job. Even Dino Crisis 2 that in Jokippo's version always froze at some point in the FMV videos in this version (old GPU) works perfectly.

Now this version of the emulator is my main version. Thank you very much.

My only doubt is if I get any advantage in using the gaussian sound interpolation over the simple one.

Gaussian interpolation uses a little more processing but you have the advantage of the sound being heard like in the actual PS1 hardware, more noticeable on the BIOS startup and in the game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Welp, i did tested SotN once again in both old and new GPU plugin, this time without sound interpolation, and....................sorry to say but stutter persists in that game, even tough OLD GPU reduces the stutter in many other games or gets rid of it........

i am loosing hope.....

did you try using the 'new' PPC Dynarec instead of Lightrec, using the old GPU? i think because of Lightrec caching...

EDIT: Are you using the vanilla unpatched game, or are you using a romhack / patch? Also what is the region of the game are you playing? And in what Wii are u playing? Have you tried playing your problematic game on another Wii if that same thing happens?

Sorry for making too many questions but... i'm done with always hearing that game always being stuttering.

Well it aint my fault man..............Well lets see

SotN (US) + Unpatched + No Gauss + Dynarec + New GPU = Stutter

SotN (US) + Unpatched + No Gauss + Dynarec + Old GPU = Stutter

SotN (US) + Unpatched + No Gauss + Lightrec + New GPU = Occasional Stutter

SotN (US) + Unpatched + No Gauss + Lightrec + Old GPU = Regular Stutter

SotN (US) + Unpatched + Gauss + Lightrec + New GPU = Occasional Stutter

SotN (US) + Unpatched + Gauss + Lightrec + Old GPU = Regular Stutter

SotN (JP) + Patched + Gauss + Lightrec + Old GPU = Stutter

SotN (JP) + Patched + Gauss + Lightrec + New GPU = Stutter

There it is.

This is an incredible release although I can't help but feel there's been a huge speed penalty? I remember Dead or Alive on PAL being full speed and now it's down to the 40s and even high 30s. It was one of the few "interlaced" games that did run full speed on Wii so you didn't need to enable interlacing.

I can also confirm the earlier reports of emu crashing upon exit, though it isn't a terrible issue it is still bothersome to have to force turn off the wii instead of returning to HBC.
