Nintendo's recent remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening received highly positive reviews and did well commercially, however, many fans weren't happy with the remake, citing bad performance and controversial stylistic choices. So, a fan has taken it upon themselves to create an authentic, improved Link's Awakening experience. A user going by the rather apt name "linksawakeningdxhd" dropped a complete remake of the game, built to run on PC. It features a ton of improvements on the original game, including widescreen, support for up to 120fps, and no area transitions. This last aspect allows for the entire map of Link's Awakening DX to act as one seamless area, to the point of being able to zoom the camera out to see the entirety of the game world all at once.

You can grab the game from itch.io, and watch the trailer made by the creator of the remake, which showcases the PC port in all its glory.

Not gonna happen ever.

They would be buying their own IP from a non copyright holder, which doesn't make sense at all.

Coming from a customer point of view, it's the fact that they are paying for the work done which would've been done by them in-house, so yeah it doesn't make sense from a IP ownership stand-point, but that's not the point. Whenever someone pitches a game to a company and they come with a demo, sometimes they use the copyrighted characters so I'd chalk it up to that.

And honestly, the fact that Nintendo fans end up making better remakes than Nintendo should be proof enough for them to just go along with it if it's a decent port compared to their normal work.

very cool. i...like the screen transitions, though. helps with categorizing areas and chunking areas. plus, a lot of the fun comes from that push and pull of conquering an area while the next screen is full of the unexpected. but should still be a fun game.

fantastic, but I can’t not wonder why these kind of creators who obviously they are going to get C&Ded within minutes by bigN don’t go anon & rogue by torrenting the release instead of going itch/steam/github...

You can manually edit the game scale in the settings to zoom in tighter than you can in game. 15 works pretty nice.

I figured I'd grab this in case it gets taken down. The website gave me some warning page for suspicious activity from the creator. Imagine the juicy irony when the first thing served up from the website after clicking download is one of those scam ads disguised as a giant OK button.

$60 for a game that's a decade old might be unheard of on PC but actually is not uncommon on consoles

especially Nintendo because they only ever lower the price of games when they do a greatest hits/platinum hits/players choice re-release
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and the HD collections released for 7th gen consoles too
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:

@The Real Jdbye, tbh the HD collections are more justified since they include more than just 1 game per copy

@SylverReZ I read that non-binary people identify as a blend of male and female. The point is i think i'm a blend of those and thus non binary

@Xdqwerty, Non-binary people are those who don't identify themselves exclusively as male or female.
