When I boot it up it says "The software has closed because an error has occurred" and I just wanna rip my hair out because I did everything it said.

use the latest build (from the latest github) : https://github.com/FWGS/xash3d-fwgs/releases/tag/continuous
it works great on 17.0.0 | AMS 1.6.2 (BTW, I'm not able to launch Blue Shift or Opposing Force, something must be missing)

ps : now, valve folder needs to be next to xash's nro (and not in SD:\xash3D like with old builds)

Still not working for me, I have the NRO and valve folder on the SD card under switch and the xash3d folder seperate, can you please share a screenshot of your file structure so I can replicate this

Thanks in advance

SD:\switch\Xash3D ← contains xash.nro, .so files, etc.
SD:\switch Xash3D\valve ← I copied all files from Half Life (steam version) (wad, cfg, txt, lst, etc. + all sub-folders)

Working fine under firmware 16.1.0 and 17.0.0 (emuMMC) with AMS 1.6.2
At least for Half Life.

Ok so I figured the problem and it was located between the controller and the couch... I wiped everything I put on the sd card and put back only the clean valve folder, without anything else. Now it's working perfectly fine :)

Sorry for bothering you, conclusion of the story is, this nro works perfectly alone by itself!
I am having the same problem and don't know how to solve. Did what he said but no sucess

EDIT: I tried another version and now the buttons are working fine, but the menus are extremely slow.

EDIT 2: i finally made the game works as intended by mixing some files from both versions i have

I can't manage to run HL. It crash at startup.

This is exactly what i did. This is how it looks and the error i'm getting:

I have copied/pasted the valve folder from my half-life game download directly from Steam.

EDIT:

Very weird and nobody talked about that, but copy/pasting the gfx.wad file from the valve folder into the root folder (Xash3D) fix the issue and i can now play the game, what the heck.

Hi All, I was also having random crashes druring loading but the xash3d-test-fix build uploaded on page 17 seems to have fixed the issue.

Seperately, is it possible to load the They Hunger Trilkogy with this build? I have the files on my SD card and the mod appears in the menu and the main menu loads, but all option to actually start the game are greyed out.

Any ideas on how to get it to run? Or is it simply not compatible with this build?
Fixed this three years later! No more relying on Android to run it :hrth:

I found a crash!

When you enter the underground tunnel at the beginning of the Blast Pit Chapter (the first time you encounter the interactive minecart thing. There are a bunch of Bullsquids, Houndeyes and Headcrabs in the area too). If you move the cart forward toward the toxic waste pond (theres a buffer it breaks through i think?), the game crashes and exits to the home screen.

Curiously, if you don't touch the cart and run through the tunnel, there is no crash. Only thing i can think of is that i have the HD models pack enabled (the one that came with the original release of Blue Shift). I havent tried replicating the crash without it.

I just installed this and everything is working except gearbox when i try to start a game the options for new game are grayed out so i cant choose start a new game i did not overwrite the files in the xash3d-nswitch-r2.zip so im out of ideas does anyone know of a fix?
Having the same issue. Half Life works perfectly on current firmware, but Opposing Force loads when activated but new game and load game are greyed out and unacceptable. Tried switching my gearbox folder between files from my CD and files from Steam. Same issue.

Check that your liblist.gam file for opposing force is pointing at the correct DLL. If gameinfo.txt exists in your gearbox folder, delete it.

I edited the .gam file to the correct dll and deleted the file but have run into the exact same issue.

Okay, so I have no idea what I am doing wrong so I am going through the installation process for Opposing Force:
I grab the gearbox folder from my steam installation and place them in xash3d folder on my switch, then delete the gameinfo.txt file and edit the liblist.gam file to the correct .dll. I do all of that and the menu has the training course, load game, and new game options greyed out.

Edit I: I can load up the game on my PC but not the switch. Is it because I am using the continuous build? I tried to use the command console to launch the first level but it says "error: can't initialize dlls/opfor_switch_arm64.dll: Failed to find library dllls/opfor_nswitch_arm64.dll.
Could not open 'dllls/opfor_nswitch_arm64.dll"

Edit II: Figured out the issue. Had to rename the files from the continuous release from a .so file to a .dll file. Finished Opposing Force with no issue. Unfortunately, I do not see a way to play Counter Strike with the continuous release.

This is not working for me with GOTY edition. Simply getting "could not open due to error".
Am I missing anything ?
