I need to replace my SD card and tried out a Silicon Power Superior 1TB and its just generally slow and terrible, and I think its going back. Thinking the Sandisk Extreme instead. Is 30MB/sec usb-c transfer bad for these microSD's? I know they play with numbers in the advertisements sometimes.

-hold my tongue-
sorry
Just use dbi or many other usb installers (i still use Awoo and works great)
I follow What @impeeza says, never let me down!
Thanks. Will try them.

Btw, where does DBI load the .nsp or .xci files? Do I have to keep the files on the SD? I'm talking about the many files already on there.

Ive always used sandisk, but always be wary of fakes when buying micro sd cards online.

You want a read speed on micro sd cards close to 100mbs which is around max read speed for Switch.

DBI, or other USB installers, will install the game, and will not store the nsp or xci file on sd card.

no installers "LOADS" any file.

I think you have a serious case of the X-Y paradigm.

We DO NOT CONDONE PIRACY.

you need legally obtained NSP, NSZ, XCI or XCZ files. that files are used TO INSTALL software on your console.

To install software on your console, you use software like DBI, GoldLeaf or ***Woo. You run the Homebrew lets says DBI on your console, and using one of the different methods to access the NSP, XCI files you use them as source and install the software on your console.

You can "send" the NSP, XCI file to your homebrew by different methods:
  • DBI can create a FTP server on your console and your send the files via any FTP client you like.
  • DBI can convert your console on a MTP device, then you connect the console via USB cable and your PC (or mobile device) "sees" the switch as a MTP device, then you can copy NSP, XCI, etc files to the respective folder on the MTP device.
  • You can use client server software to send installer files to the DBI, GoldLeaf ***Woo vía network or USB Cable.
  • almost all installers support you connect a Hard drive with the installer files and browse them and select which ones you like to install.
If you are thinking about "run" directly XCI files THAT IS NO SUPPORTED BY NO GOOD CFW, the only CFW which support that is outdated several years now and can not run any new software on your console.

Yup, I understand most of that. I'm now using MTP Responder and it's going smoothly (so far). What I don't understand is what dbi actually does in the install process after a .nsp or .xci is stored on the card.

That is exactly what I'm getting at, thanks. Where do the games get installed?

on where you select, you can install on the SD card or on the (Emu)NAND

To a numbered folder that is encrypted, stored in the "Nintendo" folder, if i remember right. Why anyways?
Yes if you choose SD they are folders on the SD:/nintendo folder (or his equivalent for the EmuNAND)

if you select install on (Emu)NAND that get inside the USER partition of the (Emu)NAND

Any installer read data from the NSP, XCI file and make "installation" of that sofware like Ninty does, all data get stored on the console (SD or NAND) as encrypted files which are loaded by OS (HOS) of the console when you want to run them.

Hello, I'm trying to install .nsp game files in Goldleaf. I get a similar message every time.

Any ideas what is going on? Should I try a different method?
its been like this since with the new CFW version

even im installing for old game titles

but now im using either TINFOIL (theres a setting that it says install even if its not recognize by something)
or AWOO Installer but you need to open this one NOT on applet mode, just hold R then choose any game and open AWOO
never tried the others but feel free to try and share if you have other homebrew

The biggest weakness of the switch is the sd card slot, so the less you use it, the better. So any USB installer with a pc is better than pulling the card out on a normal basis.
just restart the switch, go to tools then usb then sd card

Hello Guys.
I have bougth several years ago switch V1 with soox and dongle. I'm using them to play game by lanching them with dongle.
I want to play new game like Mario Wonder but I read what I need to install Atmosphere on my switch can you please help me ?
DO I still need the dongle ?

Thanks

Latest firmware that SX OS worked on was 11.0.0 (or 11.0.1, if you do some magic). For the games that require higher firmware, you could either use either Switch Army Knife (SAK) or Nintendo Switch Cleaner and Builder (NSC_Builder) to lower the firmware requirements. I haven't looked into those personally so you'll have some checking to do and see how it goes.

Easier way would be to switch to Atmosphere, you can follow this guide. Currently, there are no working sigpatches for the latest firmware (17.0.0). You can instead downgrade to 16.1.0 via Daybreak (firmware files can be found by quick Google search). Sigpatches can be found here (for Atmosphere 1,6.1 and firmware 16.1.0).

As for the dongle, I believe that you can repurpose it to make Switch boot into Atmosphere. I personally use Rekado on my phone to push payloads to my Switch. There's also TegraRCMGUI for PC as well.

So the switch was jailbroken with rp2040 chip. Emunand was functioning flawless but ofw won't boot, only to this color screen. In my opinion something was messed up with installing jailbreak chip
