They could've solved the whole issue by removing stamina as a mechanic entirely, allowing players to just explore the world with the only limitations being temperature and personal curiosity/desire.

If it, as you say, "becomes a non-issue after a little bit of game time", then why not make a non-issue altogether by scrapping the mechanic entirely? Don't slow the player down by forcing them to wait for an arbitrary gauge to refill? Don't require them to cook stamina-increasing foods if they want temporary relief from it? Don't waste shrine orbs on increasing an arbitrary gauge, when they'd be much better used increasing Hearts (and, in turn, the stupid meaningless orbs turned into Heart Pieces, like what used to be a standard before this dismal reformulation)?It becomes a non issue after a little bit of game time.

Sure there is. A barrage of self-deprecating jokes oozing with self-loathing that will leave the opponent uncomfortable. Then, when they're looking away, kick 'em in the nards.
