Danny Masterson from That 70's Show has been convicted of multiple rapes. Will this affect you watching that show?

Danny Masterson is officially a piece of shit rapist bastard who deserves to get ALL of the butt stuff done to him in prison, after being convicted of two out of three counts of rape, whilst being protected by his Church of Scientology. In the opinion of the OP, this is not inconsistent with every church on the planet, but one disgresses.

This would likely have an impact on whether or not anybody wants to see anything that he is involved in. I mean, he was kicked off of 'The Ranch' when the allegations came out.

I never watched either show, but I DID delete Hulk Hogan from my copy of WWE2k15 after his racist comments came to light, and have never supported him again. I totally made a difference, I know. Hold the applause. Keep throwing panties, though.

Question being, in general; what kind of behavior does it take for a celebrity, actor, musician or public figure to completely lose your support, and for you to actively "cancel" them, with cause?

I mean, if they already have watched and enjoyed the show, what could be done?
Nothing, pretty much.
Upsetting, yes, but what could anyone do once the facts are presented a bit too late?
Considering the entire cast is most likely not guilty of the same charges, why even boycott something at this point?

I don't think people realize that you can't go back to remove the joy out of something. You can continue forward and decide to not engage with that stuff anymore but you can't reverse the enjoyment you had previously.

This is a tough one for me.. One of my favorite bands is no longer in any playlist of mine because of what the lead singer did… I don’t necessarily miss That 70’s Show, but there are times it comes on and I watch… it should be easy cuz fuck the dirtbag, but holy fuck I’m so sick and tired of my favorite things being ruined by shit people.

Right on, on that I agree with you.

I agree. I don't even listen to Chris Brown, but he never deserved to work in the music industry again after beating the shit out of Rihanna.

Even if she DID give him herpes. I would treasure every herpe she ever gave me, were god kind enough to make me that lucky.

BUT, to the point of @The Catboy , even with all the allegations against him, and the creepy shit they found in his mansion, I will never stop being a fan of Michael Jackson. And I definitely disapprove of some of his behavior throughout life.

It's a sticky wicket to separate an artist from their art.

Yeah, I personally try to not see past the art when it is possible, unless I do get notified about the bad stuff spinning around a person.
My safest spot usually lies to what an artist make, if they project their shit thoughts/behaviour into their art, or that their art enables their wrong-doing, I can say for sure I would rather avoid it entirely.
That goes with saying, people can enjoy what they want, but supporting bad people directly is where I would have reserves against just for the questionable reasons involved in the consideration.

He does play my favorite dude, Hyde, so this does suck to learn he's a piece of shit. I can't not enjoy Hyde, he's kind of the best character in the entire show.
But since I haven't watched this show since it's removal from Netflix, I will continue to only enjoy it in memory.

I'm being neutral but what evidence and proof is there? Heresy doesn't count, serious question..

Cancel culture is cringe, I'll never understand the people who religiously follow it. I never watched that 70s show but maybe it's about time I did.

I might enjoy it, I might not, it'll have all to do with the quality and content of the show and NOTHING to do with whether the actor, director, or producing company are pieces of shit or if the Media Hive-mind thinks they should be cancelled.

people should start learning to separate the artist from the art, just because an actor or musician did something gross, doesn't mean you're not allowed to enjoy the music or show anymore smh

i've never watched this show nor do i know who this actor is, it's just funny seeing outrage of stuff i'm in no way associated with, good to have an external view on things sometimes

Yep, i wouldn't stop watching/enjoying an entire show just 'cause that one 'dirt bag' guy is in it, even if the crimes were made way during the show's production. If you're fan of the show (or first time watching it) i would just ignore his character completely, regardless of if he's funny or unlikable.
Though i have to say that the show's pretty mediocre tho, with some 'funny' moments every now and then..

Won't watch it but correlation doesn't mean causation :)

I don't watch "TV shows" much if at all, that is if you exclude cartoons live on TV (when I still cared for channels different than "AV1", "Component", and "VGA"), I mean, a friend gave me a 6 episode anime in early 2011 and I still haven't finished it lol

In general, personal qualities or lack thereof should be kept VERY distanced from "professional" and business merits, or do you support those (almost always American) businesses that fire people due to their off-business opinions?

In other words I don't think most people who used it in first place stopped using FreeShop because it was invented by someone busted for collecting Cheese Pizza ;)

I can separate the artist from the art so this doesn't affect me in the slightest. That being said, I didn't enjoy the show to begin with.

Like a lot of people here, I've already watched the show and probably won't miss it enough to ever go back through it again.
I don't know how I'd feel if I was halfway through watching it then learned about this. I don't think I could stomach watching a guy act knowing what he's done.
That feeling would probably win out quite quickly and I'd stop watching, I imagine.
