460 is up with some great new features.

Please thank the guy in the post right above me, @duckbill007

(Please don’t thank me. I’m just a dirty reposter.)
But you are such a great dirty reposter, though! Thanks, binkinator, you make life easier for all of us. And of course thanks go to @duckbill007 for keeping DBI well updated. You can keep the source code closed all you want, I don't mind, yours is still the best installer app existing for the Switch.

I would like to use the feature in dbi called "Install title from usb"
From what I have read in the guide, I need to open the dbibackend.exe
add nsp file in it, start the server
and then fro dbi choose the option Install title from usb
after that the installation should start
but for me it does nothing, no error, just nothing

anyone else has try that option and know what to do to make it work ?

thank you for your help

That option work just fine, you need the drivers (look on download sections switch zadig drivers https://gbatemp.net/download/zadig-generated-nintendo-switch-drivers-for-windows.37504/ ) and follow the steps you describe.

but I really do preffer the MTP responder method, is cleaner and faster.

You don't run the installer,

now void instructions, see next:

Post automatically merged:

Sadly, seems microsoft block the certificates on last update, so by now you need to use Zadig to create a new set of certificates and install manually the drivers:
  1. Go to https://zadig.akeo.ie/ site and download the latest Zadig

Run as administrator, or allows to be run as administrator>

Select Options -> List All Devices

Select de device APX if you are con recovery mode or DBI if you are inside DBI , then select the Diver "libusbK" and from the little arrow besides Install Driver, select Install Driver

After That Press the button "Install Driver"

The process can take some minutes, at end the driver (and certificates) will be installed for you.

sorry for confusion.

I've only been getting install speeds of around 20MB/s. I suspect this is my MicroSD card being slow. For those who has 45MB/s and up install speeds, what MicroSD brands, models, and capacities are you using?

Thanks!

USB 3.0
DBI supports USB 3.0. If you are using kefir, then USB 3.0 is active by default. Otherwise, you need to activate this function through the Atmosphere configuration files by writing in atmosphere \ config \ system_settings.ini:

[usb]
usb30_force_enabled = u8!0x1

Important - activiating USB 3.0 can interfere with bluetooth and 2.4GHz wifi connections. If you experience any connection issues with your wireless controllers or 2.4GHz wifi networks then you should not activate USB 3.0. 5GHz wifi connections should be generally unaffacted.

copy paste from the read.me in English.
Is the wifi thing also happening when you are NOT using DBI?

USB 3 enabled, using a fast 512GB card (Sandisk Ultra) and only getting 10 MB/s on a USB3 port.

using USB install. Using MTP install, it transfers 70% faster at 17 MB/s. but still not fast. hardware can do much faster.

what is wrong?

Even the fastest cards are only going to go at 30 - 40 MB/s

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
