What's DZ? Sorry, I'm new. I used AOS (all in one installer from the hb menu)
DZ is the real name of homebrew application you are using. This is the actual Tinfoil homebrew app which I'm highly doubtful you are using as if you were, you probably wouldn't be having any issues in the first place.

I'm using the Tinfoil from the official tinfoil github.

it doesnt matter whether i launch normally or with title override.
DZ doesn't have an official GitHub page. Its closed source which is explained in this thread. The true Tinfoil is the one I linked above. Unless you're implying you're already using that one?

So I am out traveling and trying to install a dumped DLC from my main Switch on my travel Switch. Normally I would just do it by Tinfoil via USB on my Windows machine. I only have a Mac and Android on the go though.

USBC to USBC on Android won't exit charging mode.

On OS X, NS US Loader never works. Just fails to push. Neither system pretends to see the other.

I was able to get the Switch into mass storage and transfer the NSPs over. But in tinfoil, navigating to them and trying to install throws a no valid files found error.

I'm tearing my hair out trying to find a single successful way to install. It doesn't need to be convenient, it just needs to work.

So I'm gonna pay someone to install hwfly on oled and he won't do any software setup on it install atmosphere, emunand. I'm assuming he's just gonna check if it boots into hekate and obviously stock.

It shouldn't get banned right if nothing is installed?

Should be alright, as long you set up emunand correctly afterward, if you installed pirated games on a clean NAND then you would get banned.

OFW is a mode like CFW. It isn't something you modify or "update". You update sysMMC and emuMMC.

Why are you trying to factory reset your Switch?

If you think you have an idea to hack the console, then do it yourself. There are way too many threads about people who don't know hacking suggesting exploits that lead to absolutely nowhere. You are certainly not the first and unfortunately won't be the last. Also, I told you to quit making new threads and use the Switch Noobs Paradise as you are clearly a noob.
dude, you are not a moderator. Stop mini modding.

What's the best place to ask for save files? I saw the switch save file download board but it didn't look like anybody was requesting them, just posting them.

Hello, i had multiple problems with my emummc and sysmmc and cant boot into emummc anymore. I would really want to boot into emummc once to sace my zelda botw game saves. I dont think this will be possible because if many many problems and i already tried to fix it but i gave up and now want to completely start over with the switch hack. Is there ANY way of saving the game saves from my emummc so i can use them after completely start from the beginning of the switch mod?

Hi there, taking the plunge to mod my v1 switch :) so hi to this community :)
I do have a question to obtain the best 'clean experience' so I hope I do get my message across:

Q: Question about mixed content (legit and homebrew) when modding a Switch in use for several years:
Goal is to have emunand next to sysnand but what is the best practices before of after 'separating' these when the sysnand is already in use with several saves / installed games.

Is better to factory defaults a switch and then (soft) mod? So in this way there is no mess between 'legit' and 'homebrew' installations?

I do get the feeling that making a copy of my system (in use with several games installed) is not the most beautiful way in some sort OCD way. Also the separation between sys and emunand will grow when this dual system will be used?

I mean, for modding is is best practises to factory defaults the switch and then copy this to emunand so to have the sysnand (and installed 'homebrews') seperated?

Just wandering to reformat a Switch and then do the above, any thoughts?

So guys, it's been just under a year now since I've finally brought back the courage to reattempt to jailbreak my Switch again. Before that, I spent nearly an entire week straight doing all the research I possibly could, asking questions, here and trying to figure out how to get everything all up and running to enable me to play cracked games. In the end, I got it all working, but I couldn't help myself and began tinkering with a saved doom game, and corrupted the whole SD in a matter of days of having everything working. That entire weeks work was for absolutely nothing and I was completely and utterly distraught. Since then, my Switch has literally sat in the corner of my room like the expensive paperweight it is.

It's only now that I feel like mustering up and courage and getting back on the wagon and trying to get everything back up and running again. This time though, the plan is to simply get it back working again to allow me to play games and leaving all the fancy overlays and everything else. It was all of that unnecessary crap that got me in trouble from the get on.

Out of curiosity, is there any simply guides out there worth following like last time to help me get started? If so, please can someone point me in the right direction so I can make an attempt at getting everything back up and running?

Thanks again for all the loyal support. This community trealy is one of the greatest and binkinator deserves a MASSIVE SHOUTOUT for his contribution throughout this entire thing!

The irony when someone else says to stop mini modding is actually mini modding himself. And nothing I did wasn't even against the rules.

You can try following this guide, Ignore the fact that it says SX OS. emuMMC works the same way no matter what CFW it is.

  • emuMMC is initially just a copy of sysMMC so whatever saves and games are in sysMMC will automatically be carried over to emuMMC at the time of creation. If you don't mind that happening, there is nothing else that you need to do. If you do mind, you could always factory reset the emuMMC so it has a clean slate
  • No, a factory reset on sysMMC should only be reserved for when you plan to sell the console or if you have backed up everything on sysMMC already. emuMMC can have its own Nintendo folder so there can be no overlap between any installed games
  • As explained earlier, you can simply factory reset the emuMMC after creation so that it doesn't feel like a copy. Also, emuMMC and sysMMC are basically 2 different consoles that do not interact with each other whatsoever after emuMMC is created
  • For the third time, it is NOT recommended to factory reset the sysMMC prior to making emuMMC. Some games and features can only be unlocked with certain save or account data that can be a hassle to move over once emuMMC is created so it might be better to have all of that be carried over rather than start fresh. Plus if you plan to keep using sysMMC, then resetting it is only going to set you back since you lose all of your data. You can have emuMMC use its own Nintendo folder so once you start installing new games to either sysMMC or emuMMC, it won't appear in the other

I always recommend this guide as not only is it the first tutorial released for hacking the Switch but it also has been regularly updated as the scene progressed.

I recently got my OLED switch modded with picofly (with fw 2.65).
Just wondering if in case there's new firmware update that drops, how should I proceed with updating my ofw and cfw?

Should I update first the emummc's cfw, firmware etc. or should I update the ofw first? I've read posts that for modchipped OLED switch, ofw and cfw needs to matched to avoid corrupting the boot0. I still use my ofw for switch online play.

PS. sorry if this is out of topic.

Is it possible to load ROMs from USB storage (HDDs, USB Sticks) to Retroarch? I know Atmosphere lets homebrew applications access USB Storages and read/write on them, but does Retroarch let you do that? I wanted to move ROMs from my SD card to a USB Storage Device to free up some space from it
