Root beer is a soft drink that is typically non-alcoholic. It's generally sweet and has hints of vanilla flavor (depending on the brand).
It must taste good, we don't have this around here. First time i heard about it was on a US sitcom i guess.

DAMN this is expensive even here in Brazil, around 500-600 reais, what in the actual fuck. It must taste really good to be this expensive. How much dos it costs in... whatever is your countrie's currency?

Have you ever drank Ypióca or Pitú?

I LOVE MUG ROOT BEER.

View attachment 354674

(Or any root beer, really. But MUG? No one can replace MUG.)
Mug and the supermarket brands are usually the most tepid and boring of them. Get some home made stuff or the custom stuff and then we can talk.

What exactly is root beer? Is it actually beer? Or something else entirely?
Some can be fermented like beer, though most are going to be flavour added to carbonated sugar water*.
The main defining factor is something called wintergreen and sassafras (which a search tells me has something called that but not necessarily the same native to Brazil). Depending upon how old you are you may associate the smell/taste of wintergreen with disinfectant (it was popular, especially in hospitals, until the early 1990s and can still be found) which also means many will run screaming from it if you offer them some.
If you are interested in such things then might also want to look up dandelion and burdock (an absolutely classic UK drink), sarsaparilla (some think it tastes similar to root beer, I disagree but can see where they are coming from and it also uses sassafras in traditional rec) and of course ginger beer (different to ginger ale).

*if you are in the UK I generally suggest https://www.fentimans.com/ stuff if you want to experience some more old school recipes for such things. Have seen the exported around the place a bit though https://www.bundaberg.com (an Australian take, fewer options and their ginger beer is not as strong I would like but also do a legendary rum) tends to have more of a worldwide reach.

IRN - BRUUUUUUUU! Addicted to the stufff! The ads have always been great but the retro ones from the 80s and 90s were good, the best one you "Yanks" will get is at 1:11

Might still have a crate of the OG recipe stuff (was/is still sold in Russia but hard to get things from there these days) rather than the fun police low sugar variety that is what you get nowadays if you want to join the bidding.

Ypioca was good before the acquisition. The silver one. A friend said me that the processes were changing, so I brought back a box, now just 2 bottles remains.

Today, Pitú is by far the best one on the cheap tier, still not that good IMO.

Really??? I assumed the recipe was just changed indefinitely, didn't think about overseas markets.... Interesting but I'll pass on the bidding for now... For now mind

I don't know why and I really shouldn't like it for obvious reasons but this Irn Bru ad has always been my favourite. Still makes me chuckle every time I see it :rofl2:

Anyhoo it will come as no surprise to anyone on here who knows me but my favourite Alcoholic beverage is Vodka and my favourite soft drink is Dr Pepper.

I'm partial to tea. I don't really do the whole soda thing, and I'm very staunchly on the "teetotaler" side of things regarding alcohol.

I will however consume 10 metric tons of Gatorade per second, if allowed.
By tea @Chary do you mean proper tea like we drink here in the UK or that disgusting sweet tea garbage most of the southern States of American likes :)

Oh man, I feel like I failed as a Texan to remember that sweet tea exists. I've never considered it tea, haha, in my mind it lives next to soda. :rofl2:

No, I like the fancy import teas. (maybe they're not even fancy, just marketed to make Americans feel fancy lol) that they sell in British and Canadian stores here. Harrods, Fortnum and Mason, David's Tea, etc. I like ceylon and mint teas the most :)
