Rip I keep seeing Series S pop up for 12~ hours on amazon in Canada

Nobody wants 'em here. Not even worth scalping, you make like $50 profit.

Are there any games on the series s (or indeed PS5) at this point that make it worth the effort?

@FAST6191 From what I've heard, Spider-Man: Miles Morales looks absolutely spectacular on PS5, as does Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
I highly recommend the former; the latter would've been worthwhile, if Rivet wasn't a thing - or, at the very least, had some actual goddamn gameplay differences to Ratchet, so switching between the two (despite it being, y'know, a RATCHET & Clank game) would actually mean something. She's basically just a female skin over the same body rig - waste of potential; why does she exist?

I'm slapping a big F in the chat.

@FAST6191 If anything is worth the scalping it's PS5 because of how it is with specs and new games. I would buy a Series X|S for the emulation.

Damn, Series S is pretty widely available in the UK. Pretty sure it's been consistently in stock for more than a month. Is it really that hard to get in the US?

@FAST6191 Well it can play basically all xbone games and a huge chunk of 360/original xbox games. So if you're already an xbox gamer it's 100% worth getting even the S because all of the games will run better or at least be playable on one machine.

There's pretty much no reason to ever get a PS5 though. It doesn't do anything except play Demon's Souls. Weird they released an entire console for one game. Microsoft def won this starting sprint.

@Scarlet apparently it is i have twiiter drop feeds for xbox S/X both sell out instantly in 2 hours (Presumably less)

I just hope it isn't just a S box with rocks in it going through my bank card for a chargeback is such a pain

Oof. I guess it is at least an upgrade over a One S, if nothing else. But yeah, I too am surprised it's getting so much attention from scalpers, what with it being the weakest option hardware-wise among next gen systems.

reading the reviews apparently the only thing missing is the game pass ultimate card(?)cheap bastards

What, really there is loads of them in the UK, I got one nearly new for £175 yesterday, for context new they sell for £250 so mine was £75 below retail.

I used my 2nd dev slot on it and just went ahead and subbed back to ultimate so I'm ready to go btw Gamertag is the same as my gbatemp ID so feel free to add

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
