I look forward to reading this. It is a bit of work to try to cover all the areas that Nintendo sales cover considering the diversity in laws between them.

Not to say you wouldn't, but try keep your personal opinion muted and cover the the laws in these areas clearly.

From a glance of common laws, in some places you don't own a console in the standard definition of ownership, so any modification software or otherwise is illegal. In another patching and/or cfw on a console is fine but sharing or facilitating the usage of copyright material is illegal. The last common being modification and backing up is unquestionable if the console and past/present/future running software is purchased beforehand.

Just an idea, is use a simple algorithm, where one can follow their own situation.

Do i live in a,b,c etc. With brances from each spreading to, do i have cfw, do i have freeshop, do i use my own titlekeys, do i autodownload community title keys etc... Anyway a big task and would be great to see if done in a professional manner which i'm sure your capable.
I don't want to derail this thread, but I am going to focus on the intentions freeShop, basically is freeShop itself "illegal." So I am going to focus on the wording of Nintendo's EULA, freeShop's terms and usage, and other concerns that are often brought up with freeShop itself. The debate on system hacking is one that I know I can't stay non-bias on, why? Because I bought the damn system and I can do what I want with it! So basically there's no way I can make a topic on that without completely filling it with my own biases.

I do apologize myself for the minor derail and this will be the last mention by myself here. It is though polite to reply and i'm sure arc13 and the community here won't get overly worked up over our conversation.

I totally agree with your system hacking stance. I'm also very well aware that the % of 'pirating' is minimal compared to retail sales and is always accounted for in a sales model. Loss prevention is always taken into account, hence security and future perceived losses and final losses have no effect on ongoing productivity. Most of those who download any material gaming or not, were either trying before they buy to gauge what they were investing in, or they were never going to buy regardless of cfw or freeshop in this instance.

Thief's thieve but outside the gaming community it would be absurd to suggest a profitable company cuts their popular brands and stall other planned potentials due to previous theft. At a worst, theft, loss prevention, etc is added to the figure the shopper with 'integrity' pays for the end product and in saying that, those not in ignorance know most models of profiteering in consumerism lack any of the integrity they expect from their consumer.

i was just throwing an idea at you Crystal and again i look forward to seeing your thread. All the best to you Crystal.

It is an issue with freeshop, related to 'screen sleep' feature.... Great work to you arc13 and lets not forget the original creator.
No, it really isn't, if it was fast with the original FreeShop and slow with the fork, then it has nothing to do with the fork. I spent enough time trying to make CIAngel consistent that I can guarantee the 3ds is just horrible at downloading.

In which way ?

One of the main problems of the Download list and the error that occurs when you click on a game over 1GB that is in standby mode to download and puts it in the first position. When arriving at 99% the download gives error. You could change the Download list to work as follows, instead of downloading start automatically you could add a button that performs this procedure, and allow to stop the download, allowing to organize the Download list with the download paralyzed.

You could also fine-tune the way you organize the items in the Download list, allowing you to use the stylus to organize the list more easily.

Currently, we can not edit the Download list, it is only allowed to upload to the first position the item added to the Download list.

You can contribute to the actual project by making pull request on the notabug if you are interested, however, restarting from scratch would be too much work I think.

Ok, will take a look but not for the moment, I can't add this to 3.1 or it will never be released.

Thanks :yay3ds:, A question, you had said that would correct the error that makes some games not appear in freeshop, the game Project X Zone 2 is included in this correction, this game is available in the eshop, but does not appear in Freeshop.

And in fact, in that titlekey site this game appears, but in freeShop doesn't.

Freeshop needs encrypted keys to download an app, so it's taking some time after the decrypted one appears on that site.

If you check that titlekey site, that game appears with both decrypted and encrypted keys, so I don't know why doesn't it appear on the freeShop

The cache provides all visual game info, icons, descriptions, etc
The cache data activates the games in the right freeshop, it would be possible to make a default to catalog the items not registered in the cache so that all the games available in the Eshop appear. A standardized configuration to make these games available without displaying images and etc.

It's possible to make every game with an encrypted title key in the key database visible, but not every game on the eShop.

AFAIK (and I've just checked) that 3ds key site doesn't have the keys to the base game of Project X Zone 2 yet (searched using the title ID from the Euro - 0004000000162000 and USA - 0004000000160C00 versions).
What it actually have is the Key for it's DLC, and they are kinda of useless because:
1 - They are only bonuses items for the game, you can get them with NTR or Gateway cheat system
2 - They are actually validated, you can only use their effects after you download them using the in game interface because only after downloading said DLC the game will patch the save to put said items, force installing the DLCs using FBI didn't achieve their effects in my tests.

Suggestion that I've made on freeShop thread and will repeat here, if possible add the option to download updates and DLC for games that doesn't have their keys for the base game on that key sites or own dumped keys. The Project X Zone 2 is a good example, people have it's CIA made with dumps from cartridges (heck, I've dumped my own game because I wanted to carry less game holding cases with me), but it have updates and DLC (even if useless).
The freeShop have a routine where it shows in the installed game list retail cartridges, but it only shows games for whom you have keys (so Project X Zone 2 doesn't get listed, but any game that you can download today using freeShop get listed when you insert the cart).
My suggestion is to add a routine to show DLC and Updates to said cartridges (and CIAs) I know that people can use FBI, CIAAngel and other methods to get these contents, but it would be nice to see it added to freeShop.

Yes, why not, but not for the moment because of the 3.1 update, or if someone wants to implement that.
