Maybe I can get some guidance here.... I've been testing a club nintendo wii SFC controller in retroarch and there is no way to have the extra buttons detected unless I go to quick menu, controllers and set everything the keys in auto. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I don't think that @Cluster can help me with the crt-pi shaders... In fact I'm not sure if the NES mini is powerful enough to run those shaders :(
I am sure Cluster reads your message but I can guarantee you he won't act on it since this is a RetroArch issue. There is not much he can do (the guy works on Hakchi not RA), it has little to do with Hakchi2. It is up to the community at this point to act :)

I swear, I'd add $200 to a bounty for an experienced assembly coder to extract the NESCE NTSC CRT filter code from kachikachi and add it to a custom Retroarch build for the mini so we could finally have the option for the _exact_ same output from RA.

This is, of course, a pipedream. :/

Finally finished my short video tutorial on how to mod your Famicom Mini, as well as changing the menu language from Japanese to English. Hope this helps Famicom Mini owners!

that would be great. The retroarch filter is alright, but the kachikachi one is pretty much perfect....

There isn't any way to get screen curvature on the mini, is there ?

I don't need it since I already have them. However, your subtitle is very helpful for a hard of hearing and a deaf people. Thanks!

I have a problem:

I have been modding my friends' NESCE (3 units until today) using separated hakchi2 folders on my laptop. Now I'm modding the 4th one. Dumping kernels and installing mods were successfully done, but when entering synchronization (where you don't need FEL mode), it wouldn't proceed, just stopped at "Waiting for NES Mini...". I reinstalled Zadig but the problem remained.
How could it be?

Are you using a fresh hakchi for it? Or reusing same one

Which controller do you have? For dip switches ZR should bring up options menu after starting metal slug. Then click on dip switches. Then turn test swiTch to yes. Then reset the game it will now boot in up the diagnostics screen. Click soft dip and click metal slug x then turn blood on. Back out and turn test switch off and restart the game. You will then have blood. But you got to do that every time I believe to have blood. On FBA it's way faster and easier
I just forget about those "bumpers" :)

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
