I hope at some point they're able to add and improve new filters into the actual Display option on the home screen. I'd love to be able to use the CRT Filter and 4:3 modes but the first one is far to heavy handed effect for me and I just can't cope with the warping that you get in the 4:3 mode. That means I'm stuck in Pixel Perfect mode at the moment and although it's not terrible, I can't help but be aware of the aspect ration being wrong while I play games.

I'd really like there to be an option to fix the warping in the expected overman areas in some games. It's really noticeable in games like the Super Mario games and it would be a fantastic improvement for that to be dealt with, even if it was simply a black border that's placed on top of the game.
Border cropping is an option by default from the commandline arguments:
For example: "--guest-overscan-dimensions 0,0,9,3"

As for aspect ratio, there's the only two options that could possibly be considered "correct", and they're builtin, in either 4:3 or the Pixel Perfect mode. You can tweak any filters you like for any mode in Retroarch.

Never I found a N64 core. Mupen64Plus was given first from @Truchen and the new one first from @Cluster And again @Truchen gives to me another one for GBA vba_next In this Mario Kart Super Circuit is best to play. With rivals xD

Rgs.
Thanks for mentioning it, the truth is that I had been obsessed with getting the core for days.
We must thank @PCM because of him we got a early method to testing and advancing work to @Cluster

The original thougth was, if other "consoles" like retropie or similars have N64 emulator why it is not possible on Nes Mini if is almost the same?

Next steps:
Optimization of the cores
More storage (Flash drive or SD reader)
and then....DOLPHIN CORE. (Why not?)

It's never going to run N64 full speed, just like Retropie on the Pi 3 and the other boards. Even the Pi3 which is more powerful can't run N64 games well. A couple of the less demanding games work OK and that's about it.

I've not suggested otherwise though, have I? What I stated, very clearly, was that I would like to see additional options presented in the home screen Display options.

Neither of the three available modes are actually correct simply because none of them are true to how these games would have originally looked. I use the pixel perfect mode because it's the least obnoxious of the three included modes but there is still room for improvement, as I said.

N64 emulation is already difficult to simulate, on all machines. Even if they were at full speed, they would have bugs, for ever.

Only Nintendo, and they virtual console...maybe some day with N64 MINI.

(I think at this moment everybody knows I am a dreamer)

I'm rendering a video using the Glupen64 core on Hakchi2 2.12 RC3 ... well it isn't full speed but Super Smash Bros is REALLY enjoyable.

The "new" core for N64 GlupeN64 on video on Mini NES Classic at Hakchi 2.12 RC3. As usual in me, was from worst to better.

Test on Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64, check the performance improvement in SSB intro without the bilinear filter at minute 14:45

Please, enjoy!

Latest info from our hero Cluster in the Hakchi Retro GIT:

### RetroArch mod for hakchi ###

This is hakchi/hakchi2 module which adds the RetroArch emulator to your NES Mini.

It will automatically detect unsupported NES games and run them instead of the default emulator. Save states will work as usual.

It can also run games for other consoles. This pack already contains the following cores:
- fceumm (NES, many mappers, UNIF support)
- nestopia (NES, FDS)
- snes9x2010 (SNES)
- gambatte_libretro (GB, GBC)
- mednafen_gba (GBA)
- genesis_plus_gx (SMS/Genesis/MD)
- mupen64plus (N64)

Available executables and arguments:

- retroarch-clover <core> <rom> <clover_args>
runs RetroArch with specified core,
designed for executing from clover shell,
so it parses all clover arguments (saves, aspect ratio, etc.)
- /bin/gb <rom> <clover_args>
runs "gambatte" core
- /bin/md <rom> <clover_args>
runs "genesis_plus_gx" core
- /bin/nes <rom> <clover_args>
runs "fceumm" core
- /bin/sms <rom> <clover_args>
runs "emux_sms" core
- /bin/snes <rom> <clover_args>
runs "snes9x2010" core
- /bin/n64 <rom> <clover_args>
runs "mupen64plus" core
- /bin/retroarch-mini [core] [rom] [args]
runs RetroArch directly, without clover intergration
- /bin/retroarch
RetroArch itself

Sometimes default emulator of NES Mini is not working with some games when it should. So you can just add "--retroarch" command line argument to use RetroArch.

Known issues:
- Nintendo 64 save-states are not working, battery backup working fine
- Default CRT filter is not working, scanlines shader added instead but it's not working with all systems.
- It's recommended to turn your NES Mini off from shell, not during game

Thanks for the updates!! :D I'm curious about the RetroArch core support. I saw some of the supported systems, and I was wondering if anybody is gonna add Sega Game Gear support in there? If anything, I just plan on focusing on adding NES, Gameboy, Game Gear and a few Sega Genesis games on my NES Mini, due to the NES controller limitations. And no, I don't plan on buying a new controller just to support the other systems. I'm fine with just the NES + Gameboy + Game Gear + Genesis. :)

Sega GG is supported in the MD core Genesis Plus GX, also SMS and MegaCD.

So, its come to this. After lurking around here I made an account. So hello to you all, can anyone tell me how to set up the notifications. I have came here so many times today hoping for 2.12 to drop and I think the option to be notified when there is a new post would work out better for me.

If you have an old Wii pro controller it works like a charm. They're only 10 bucks used at a gamestop. Totally worth it! :D *fistbump*

Hey buddy! :D Sadly, I live here in the Philippines and we don't have Gamestop here. Wii Pro Controllers here are pretty pricey still (roughly around $25 - $30) and at this point, I am trying to save up cash and be frugal about my expenses due to me raising my daughter and paying for bills. :P I probably would consider once I have more savings on the bank. :)

Whenever I am in retro only the dpad works on my Wii classic controllers. Someone else I seen somewhere mentioned something in the settings. What do I have to do to make the sticks work?

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
