Boot splash? Boot loader? What the difference and how do i use it?

Also i tried to help him already, i told him how luma should be setup with menuhax in the noob paradise but had not replied after he said he would try.

And the bootsplash is the image that shows up upon boot up. The bootloader is the menu that controls the CFW functions and payload chainloader

The boot splashes are two bin files (one for top screen, one for bottom). Just place them in /corbenik/share/*.bin (for Corbenik) or /skeith/share/*.bin (for Skeith)

There is already 2 files like that in that folder, and it loaded when i started corbenik. I thought it was supposed to be when booting the system menu not the config menu. You are confusing me

What? If you boot the menu without going to the config, it'll still show the splash screens.

Also, there are two files top.bin and bottom.bin there, it means you already have some splash screen there (probably Gardevoir?).

Okay i think my corbenik or umm skeith or which ever is set up now. It boots like you said, with the "Suggestive theme" picture of the Gardivor, i applied the patches you mentioned, it only loads when i hold up during boot, as luma sets it up that way, and it seem like no problems. But i do have questions.

How do i know if i am using corbenik, or skeith? Which is the one i should be using and for what reason? Would there be a need to switch at all?

Also is that guardivor the only option you have to offer? I am surprised you don't have a whole lot more at this point the way you praise and worship corbenik

Corbenik is the stable release. Skeith is updated whenever a new commit is pushed to the repository, and it is auto built.

Okay, good, it looks like everything is working as intended. But about the bootloader picture, they have to be in bin format. How do you make them?

How the hell is CakesFW considered a "dead" project? Even rxTools shouldnt be considered dead. Dead would be as soon as it becomes obsolete by a new firmware. As soon as a new firmware which is not supported by rxTools comes along and doesnt get patched, then it's dead. Not now.

Cakes is "stable". There are no major bugs, and the two that are still a pain in the ass have been fixed by contributors (including me).

I started the "misc" branch on my own fork to add some changes/fixes I hope will be accepted in the mainline repo. For example, the length of patch descriptions should be fixed (if its too wide the characters overflow the memory, which under certain conditions means it overflows to the bottom screen )

Point is, its not obsolete. That'd be like saying reiNAND is obsolete, which would be at the very least a lie, and at the worst an insult.
Not gonna be insulted by this one but I really like CakesFW. If people start talking shit about it, at least I'll try to defend it, with or without mid-kid.

I think she stated her reason already, because of lack of activity or any kind of interaction about is usage or something, i don't remember it well, since i saw it. I guess she means if there no comments from developer of any new updates, then that maybe why. Don't quote me, i'm just trying to help

These are CFW's that seem to be inactive, went into private devolpment, or are just flat dead. They still ultimately work, but their lack of activity is heavily recommended against users who want a more active CFW.

So that is why, although she said is nothing against anyone and is not bias, she also acknowledge it still works and functional if people wish to use it, but because is not reommended if is not currently receiving updated support. Is merely her observation i guess. Again, trying to help.

Please read the description. I even list the reasons they are in there. For lack of a better term, I used the word "Graveyard." I could use the word "purgatory," as they aren't quite dead, but their lack of activity is still rather concerning
Regardless, please actually read the full post before you call me out. No where in my post did I call CakesFW dead or discourage users from using it. Still, I'll find a better place for it.
