And no, it's pretty hard to completely transform a game and have it "be the same".
Pokemon is either as simple as you want it to be or as complicated. I can't think of an RPG that requires as much thought as Pokemon if you're into the competitive scene.

No. You can't just compare something and draw some sudden total connection because it shares a really basic straw-grabbing feature or gameplay element.

Mobile has some junk, avoid anything that has a Facebook equivalent and it has a fighting chance of being good. Facebook games are largely why mobile gets bad looks from people.
Mobile games are cheap, handheld, and have an incredibly lively indie scene for games. Call me when I can get that on a more standard gaming device like one from the big three (Nintendo/Sony/M$).
