Recov mode does not work....I have to go to main Installation to load Firmware.

Also my ISO shows up but I can't play it....yet it work on the PSP emulator on PC?

I have a PSP 3000 and it has the perma hack. So that answers the question you asked.

Today I got 2 second hand psp's for my kids one is the psp-2002 the other I'm not sure because the writing on the sticker is warn off,

I have followed the "6.60 PRO (temporary or permanent) installation" on the one that still has the psp-2002 on it,

But I have a problem. For some reason I can not copy any games to the memory stick.
When I plug the psp it into my pc it reads it and I can access the memory stick but when I try and copy a game over the transfer window stays up for ages and doesn't move until it closes then the psp is un-accessible.

If I take the memory stick out and put it in the unmodded psp I can copy the games over without any problems, and when I put the memory stick back in the modded one it will play the games no problems,

does anyone have this problem and know how to fix it?

If there's an /seplugins/ folder on the stick, rename it to something else and then restart both PSPs to make sure it's not an issue from a plugin from the last user of that stick.

There's two kinds of permanent hacks. The kind that works on 3Ks only works on 6.20, not 6.60.

So I my friend wanted to me to hack his PSP. I can't remember his firmware but I'm 70% sure it's 6.39 as far as I remember. Model 3000.
Then will the 6.20 update work on a 6.39? Or do I need to downgrade it? I have only until today so I need to prepare all the files if anything goes wrong.
So, what files would I need to perma hack his PSP? Including downgraders just in case. Quick replies would be appreciated

I know this was probably answered somewhere but where does one put Eboot files for playing? I have the PSN versions of FF7/8/9. They're each in their own folders with a .pbp file and a keys.bin. I tried putting them in the PSP/GAME folder with each game in their own folder which I saw in a tutorial. The games are not visible on the PSP though so I can't play them. Not sure if they're in the wrong spot. I'm on 6.6 cfw btw.

In the PSP-GAME folder, you must create a folder called "UPDATE" and put your Eboot file in there.

I do have another problem though that I'm really confused about. It turns out on reflex I put FF7/8/9 in the ISO folder. So anyways I moved them to the GAME folder and they showed up on the PSP. They're the PSN versions but when I try to play them I get an Error Code (FFFFFFFF) saying that game can't be played. Just to try everything I held R when loading to use POPS loader and now matter which one I pick the game hangs in a black screen right after loading and the PSP shuts itself off.

So then I tried a PSX 4 Disc Version converted to EBOOT by kl0wn. Got it from a torrent on TPB. The same thing happens with that as well. It hangs on a black screen after the SCEA logo and the PSP shuts itself off (both with/without trying different POPSloader versions). I really want to get these games to work >,>

But im very noob in this case i read here from beginning and if i follow this tutorial and Download the 6.60 official firmware and install after if i use hack 6.60 PRO permanent this will be okay ?? or do i need pandora battery or something extra things ??

The most recent firmware version is 6.60. Some googling suggests that you may be able to bypass the battery check as long as it's plugged in to the AC adapter, and you select the 'update via internet' option. Not sure if that's true or not, though. Sorry I can't be of more help.

There's some homebrew out there that fakes the battery meter reader for updates, but as that needs you to be able to run homebrew in the first place Idunno' what to do there.

The pandora is not needed, and is in fact not used for most things nowadays other than a recovery boot in case something goes really wrong.

The modern hacks don't need any special tools, only official PSP things like a battery, charger, and memory stick.

For the ones with the error code, they might be uncracked official PSN versions, which you'd need to extract/save the keys for, so you might as well download some working copies online.

As for the second, I have no personal experience with that game, sorry.

I have a nasty problem with my pre-owned PSP 2000 (its owner hacked it already)...
Now it seems it needs the Promotheus patch for games (it doesn't run the clean unaltered dump of Crushed) so it sure isn't 6.20 or 6.60, but on the other hand whenever I try to upgrade it to Sony's OFW (I used 6.60)... it tells me upgrading is impossible because I am already on "version 9.90"????
The config menus says it's "5.50 Prome-4"

Besides the Hellcat's Recovery Flasher method, is there a slightly less risky method to just let it upgrade?

EDIT: never mind, just had to change the version.txt under flash0 manually and I manaed to pull off successfully permanent 6.60 CFW

so i bought a psp3003 turquoise, read the guides, easy enough to understand and obviously would rather have permanent than temp.

my one question is, in order to downgrade, did the psp need to literally have been on 6.20 before? i dont know how many fw there have been, so for example, if the previous owner went from 5.00 straight to 6.60, is the downgrade not possible?

this is the point someone comes in and says all psp turquoise shipped with 6.60 so downgrade isnt possible ;P

extra quick question
psp system software page on wikipedia says kingdom hearts needs 6.35 to work, is that still the case even on modded 6.20? if so i may as well just temp hack 6.60

You won't be able to flash the IPL on the 3000 in most cases. Not all is lost, though, you can use Pro's HEN to allow it to use unsigned Homebrew until it's fully shut down, and it's easy to enable it again. If that's too much of a hassle for you then you can upgrade/downgrade to 6.20 and setup a permanent CFW. Honestly, with signed homebrew and Fast Recovery, I'd just go with 6.60 and setup a HEN, so that way you can use the PSN and the homebrew you want. Though, if you haven't bought the PSP yet, I'd recommend picking up an early 2000 model. They're just about as compatible as the 1000 with older homebrew, have 64mb of ram (which does make a difference in some homebrew, games, and emulators), and have a wide range of permanent CFW to choose from.

If you want to use a micro SD card, just look for an adapter for your PSP. They're fairly cheap, though some are also cheaply built. I'm currently using a 32gb MSD in my PSP.
