While that totally makes sense,
It'll be interesting to test their firmware/launcher on GW's cart;
it'll give us some form of platform to test whether is it simply cloning the firmware and draw a conclusion along those lines.
even if it was cloned it won't work just like R4is launcher doesn't work on gateway cause of slight changes

I thought that after you turned off the unit, the exploit "resets"?
(I'm referring to power on, not waking from sleep)

You lose Gateway mode when you turn off your console. But you can just re-enter the DS profile settings to get that back.

You only have to re-install the exploit when you play a DS game or use a DS flashcard.

It is highly probable that they are at least cloning the current public Gateway's beta, but still it may simply won't work with GW's cart just like every launcher that has been adapted by R4i for the clones.

I'm aware that present clones don't work totally with the GW firmware.

I think it is too early to say that it won't work completely.
I speculate that the exploit menu will load, and maybe certain features will work (perhaps going back to menu LOL),
but the only way to be sure is to try, right?

In essence, testing it, to know how much they cloned, and how much they Didn't clone.

Oops.

I always went back to install the exploit when I go through power cycles -.-

Hm, we got new leader?

Also it's kinda weird that all chinese uses same 3ds console (greenish+black) for review :wtf: Is it default 3ds on market?

USB in 3ds card is hardcore, no doubt.

I don't find it weird since those were the first colours available for the 3DS.

And about the USB, I guess it is used for FPGA updates.

This gives me hope that the new GW multirom firmware update is coming soon. Plus it's nice to see some diversity in 3DS flash cards. Hope this leads to more and possibly even better flash cards.

*sigh* I hope they sell it at around the same price as the clones (45USD) , but it will probably cost around 60USD.

the switch and the usb port look like they where soldered onto the cartridge. What does a naked gateway card look like?

Gateway already has a strong popularity among 3ds cards, why would they create their own competition? got to be another company i would think.

We still don't know how the pcb looks like. Have to wait someone to get it and make teardown for us.

Do you mean the Gateway?

Even 60$ is a deal breaker for this card.
First the team has to prove themselves.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
