Blocking software features in apps based on phone model, not because it's not supported by your hardware, but simply because you haven't bought the newest one, should be illegal.

Who does that and why? Only the phone manufacturer profits from selling new models.
As app dev you have the goal to have a successful app. Locking features based on model without technical reasons is counterproductive.

I am talking about phone manufacturers, yeah. It sucks seeing the built-in apps receive new versions, but having the new features gated because you're not on the newest model, even though they aren't hardware-constrained.

Honestly, it also just sucks in general that engineers would spend their time developing ways to lock features like this instead of just leaving them be.

I use Plex/PlexAmp right now, which is... "fine". I still haven't got my Jellyfin server set up yet but I don't expect I'll be using it for music. Navidrome has been on my list to check out, but I also saw this a few days ago which sounds interesting. https://github.com/Arthi-chaud/Meelo

@Sicklyboy That does look interesting. I do have a Plexpass which I bought years ago but would rather use open source software where I can. Early signs of Navidrome is positive, it is more efficient in loading up the library and pulling metadata and plays nicel;y with Symfonium on my phone whereas Jellyfin was a bit of a mess. Will continue with Jellyfin for TV and anime but certainly not for music.

Yeah long term I plan to ditch Plex entirely in favor of Jellyfin (though not for music). I too prefer OSS, and I'm really not a fan of the direction Plex as a company is headed. I've just deprioritized it so heavily in lieu of other projects around the homelab that need attention lol

Rock Smash is obtained from a fat guy to the west of Violet City, north from the Ruins of Alph - after dealing with Sudowoodo. The guy should be looking to the left, from memory.

I was buying stuff on 'Xianyu', and someone intercepted me again. :angry:
I bought a second-hand IS-TWL-DEBUGGER(S/N 1102453) yesterday. The controller is really dirty, the console hadn’t been tested, and it might have gotten water damage, so I offered 5,500 RMB. The seller agreed on the price, I paid in full, and then packed it up.

He recently monopolized all factory versions of DSipanda, Wii U dev kits CAT-DEV, and some factory test carts.
40+ DSipanda: 300 RMB(orig. unit price) → 1,900 2,999 RMB :huh:

I made the full switch a year or two ago myself. I had a 2080 Super at the time, and not gonna lie, I was still more than happy to do the nvidia-related troubleshooting if it meant I didn't have to use Windows anymore, even with a stable system. I switched to AMD last year though and it's rock solid now

The mods are going to have a field day removing the same boring quote that doesn't contribute to anything related to this. That does look quite cool, though. Not entirely huge on new Pokemon ROM hacks but it's good to see new stuff is being added.
