Alright, I've been around long enough to know about how many times the question of whether the R4 or any slot-1 device can run GBA roms, so I'm not asking that question.

What I want to know is if there is a game that is running in slot-2, and if you initiated it with the R4, is it possible to save a save file or a save state onto the R4?

I'm running under the assumption that the border around GBA games when they're run after the R4 isn't just a change of scenery.

Also, if this question has been asked before I'm sorry, I couldn't find it.

I don't believe it's possible, especially on a card (real R4s) that doesn't support Real Time Saves.
As for the frame, I think it is just cosmetic... the official firmware loads black for the empty space, while flashcards load a BMP file.
