I'm at work and haven't been able to test anything in a while, but has anyone who made a working channel tried launching it from the SD channel menu yet? Just curious if that would work.

Is there an easy way to obtain a small WAD file? One that could preferably be put here? The one channel I've attempted to make is 10 blocks, which seems a lot higher than everyone elses. I guess I haven't tested my wad yet (well, I have it on my system menu), but that's because my wireless net is down and I can't get my Wii to have the IOS 222.

I can confirm that not all opening.bnrs working. RE:umbrella chronicles doesnt work.

What other possible files can contain this kind of information?(banner etc)

find a wad for the homebrew channel...it's really small. My wads come out to less than half a meg.

Although I haven't tried any of this yet, I probably know the issue involving the opening.bnr not working..... If you are simply renaming opening.bnr to 0.app this will NOT work. I'm amazed it happened to work in some instances at all. Both opening.bnr and 0.app have an IMET header, but the DVD imet header is slighty different. The solution is real simple.... extract opening.bnr with u8tool and then repack only this time use the regular imet header. That should fix the issue.

I get this when I attempt to extract opening.bnr with u8tool:

QUOTE"Run-time error '5':

Invalid procedure call or argument

This is from WiiSports.

That's the second person that's complained about opening a 0.app/opening.brn with my tool today. I know it works just fine because it's the ONLY tool I use, but there must be something to these oddball bnrs. Send it to me and I'll take a look inside to see what the issue is. (I'd get it myself but I don't have a dumped image of wiisports and it seems a little silly to rip it just to get the bnr to test).

Well I looked at the opening.bnr for wii sports and unless I have a corrupted dump I sure can understand why u8tool crashes out on it and why it isn't working...

ITS EMPTY!!!!

The file is nothing but the string "H¸r™Fâ=žT…5ˆ" repeated a few hundred times.

My guess is it's allocating space and the string is a pointer to the actual file somewhere in memory.

I'll see if I can find it.

I just did my Wii Sports bnr and it worked just fine in U8Tool to unpack, change IMET and repack...Perhaps the trouble is coming from a corrupted bnr file?

But if this address is different for each game then we are screwed, because it will be hard to find it every time.I can give you the opening.bnr of umbrella chronicles, which also doesnt work,in order to compare them if you want.

Seem to have encountered a problem with Mario Party 8. Game was ripped in the Wii from an original disc to the hard drive, then extracted with winwbfs delta. When I open it in WiiScrubber to find the banner info, the file browser just says "Wii Disc" with no options or anything. Anyone else want to try this to find the banner info? Or had the same problem with this or another game?

LEGO Star Wars and Mario Kart have given me the same grief now....These are images extracted off the Wii HDD, so when I get access to my discs I'll try an ISO made straight from the disc and see if there's any difference.

I think that's our problem... namely the extract option in wbfs is broken. It's the only explaination as to why my wii sports opening.bnr is junk and troa's is fine.
I got the opening.bnr by using the extract option to get my wbfs rip off of my harddrive. I noticed a few other files in the iso have that repeating pointer in them so my guess is wbfs just crapped all over itself and spit out garbage files.

We are both in the US so I'm assuming that he's using a NTSC version of wii sports.

Ok I can confirm this is our issue. Delta version can't extract at all.... the other version extracts "sometimes" as I tried the same wii sports image twice and it hangs at random parts.

It seems rather random...I extracted my Wii Sports off the drive too but it worked for me...I guess the rule is just not to trust the extraction. It works some of the times but can fail I guess.

Anyone tried extracting with the Linux version or _JL_'s cygwin version?

On a different note, it seems that YAL channel compatibility is not as complete as USB Loader 1.1 compatibility is.
I can run NTSC versions of Brawl and MadWorld just fine from USB Loader 1.1, but when I make YAL channels for them they don't work.
It just freezes with a Blue or Magenta screen.
Maybe there will be a new version of YAL that has better region free compatibility.

Sorry did not read the whole thread, but am i the only one seeing that YAL is a SoftChip mod?
I noted it, but apparently in a pm to troa11 and not in the thread. That's mostly the reason i released the info in post 1 as a patch, and not just the binaries ...

just got home and got to do some tests.

1 - Reripped a game from the disc and it worked where extracting it from the HDD failed me. Best to get your isos that way I guess.

2 - Moving the channels to the SD card does not affect them (why it would since the channels are loaded into the wii temporarily to boot I don't know, but it was worth testing)

3 - the "time bug" that was in Wanin's first USB loader is present. Animal Crossing thinks it's January 1st 2000. Any of you guys with the C knowledge who wants to take a look at this, I would be eternally grateful, as this is the one channel I really want up to make it easy for my wife to access. Waninkoko fixed it in his pretty fast, so I can't imagine it would be really really complicated, but that's the voice of ignorance talking.
