Yakuza is nothing like GTA. Its a fighting game primarily, if anything Yakuza is built off the Shenmue engine.

As for the trailer, looks like the games takes place in Kamurocho again, I think they really need to move Yakuza into other locations, like they did in Yakuza 2. Kamurocho is getting boring you can beat up the same thug in the same alley in front of the same restaurant so many times before it gets old.

They need to take Yakuza to say Wanchai in Hong Kong, or the Bund in Shanghai, or Korea, and have Kiryuu fight other Asian crime syndicates, like the Triad, Korean Mob, etc, etc, maybe even have Yakuza set in Thailand there's a huge underworld over there.

And god who's idea was it to have Kiyruu dress like a 20 year old hipster. A blue waxed cotton quilted jacket, no self respecting gangster anywhere in Asia would be caught dead wearing that thing. The gray m65 field jacket in Yakuza 5 was nice touch, but this new wardrobe for Kiryuu is god awful.

To be fair, Sony seems to be handling publishing of the newer titles. Sega themselves seem to have given up on bringing the titles west.

FYI Yakuza 2 takes place mostly in Osaka far from Kamurocho and it was one of the most popular in the series.
So, yeah people do want Yakuza to be away from Tokyo for a change.

Tons of places where Yakuza syndicate operate out of outside of Tokyo. No need to keep beating a dead a horse.
