1) link us to some type of software we can use to partition our SD cards
2) create a STEP by STEP noob friendly guide on how to use Wii Linux
put it in your cd drive and reboot your pc and it should ask if you want to try ubuntu click it.incert the sd card and unmount it(after having backed up everything in windows first.)
go to system>>administration>>partition editor.
go to the sd media(not you hard drive it will be the drive the size of your sd card.
right click and delete the current partitions.
click the check mark with apply on it wait for it to finish.
format half the sd card of what ever amount you need for your normal HBC files to fat16 right click new partition select the amount and of space you want and click apply and again wait for the changes to finish.
make a EXT3 partition big enough to hold Xwhiite and do the same you did with the other (but select ext3 as format not fat16) and click apply.
now name the fat16 partition boot and the ext3 partition whiite right click label and type in the appropriate name for each partition then click apply.
take out the sd and put it back in make sure the partitions are mounted and are named properly
now go into your open the "debian-etch-4.0+whiite-0.1+xwhiite-0.1.tar.bz2" file open it with Archive manager.
unzip all the files into the whiite file system.( if it says you don't have privileges to do so open apps>>accessories>>terminal and type gksudo nautilus and try from within that).
make a "apps" folder then a folder called "wii-linux" in side that folder now put "zImage-2.6.27b-whiite.elf" in it and rename it boot.elf
now it should load from HBC beta9.

Ubuntu doesn't think it's locked.LightyKD said:wolffangalchemist said:go to www.ubuntu.com download the iso and burn it to a cd with IMGburn,nero,ect...LightyKD said:OK... this stuff is WAY out of my league. May someone PLEASE,

I'm in the partition editor but it wont let me delete the current partition on my SD card. There is a symbol with a pair of keys beside it so im assuming that Ubuntu thinks my card is locked but Its not and I tried both my 1 and 2 gig cards and still get the same result![]()

i sent you a PM but i'll post here as well incase someone else runs into this problem right click the partition and you will see list thaqt has the option to label click that and label it.IronMask said:Man... now I am trying to use Wolffangelchemist's guide to doing the actual partitioning... I have created a 200+ mb partition as fat16 and one ext3 (700mb) and it did that...but I am having trouble trying to name the fat16 boot and the ext3 partition whiite...
I don't see where it will let me have the option to name them... then I went to try and extract the debian-etch-4.0+whiite-0.1+xwhiite-0.1.tar.bz2 to the 700mb ext3 partition...it gives me an error.... what the hell am I doing wrong? do I need to unmount that partition first?
I am sooooo..... not there...but want to be... Please help a brother out!?

do the "gksudo nautilus" in terminal type your password and open the file from with the now window it pops up then it will work.LightyKD said:Ubuntu wont let me put anything on my whiite partition. The damn thing keeps telling me that i dont have any permission to do it. I tried moving the files from one partition to the other (only the "boot" partition was accessible from windows so i droped the files there and went back to ubuntu to transfer files), then i tried placing the archive on a flash drive and just extract the archive from my flash drive to my SD card and it still tells me that i dont have proper permission. What should i do?
