I would just like to remind you that proofreading a on my part takes place as I go through the game and see these dialogues in action. As of now, I am finishing chapter 4.

The side missions are probably even more altered than the main story (example below), but unfortunately I don't have that much free time to re-translate them. The amount of side quest text in this game is simply way too overwhelming.

EDIT: Plus it seems that cooking cutscenes at the beginning of chapters are not delocalized. At least the one with Something baked wasn't.

I noticed that too. These scenes are stored in other files (not the xs ones). They are probably re-used, that's why. I will look into it later.
 
The cooking scenes are in the xs99100100 through xs99110150 bdats. (7 bdat files in total).

Referencing the word 'yogurt' to search the json files (the only place in the game that word appears) that is the only place it appears, so - to my eye - it appears isolated to just those files.

I'm very interested to know if the new story content added in the definitive edition is better translated than the base game or not.
 
Just out of curiosity I'm trying to figure out or find the Script Files in Xenoblade X DE that references the Battle Sound Files currently.
My end goal right now is trying to figure out the Battle Voice Scripts because I want to figure out all the post battle dialogues.

Because I did a fun compilation of the Wii U version way back then.


Example:
The Neilnail talks to Elma about wanting to recruit her partners.

Has this been found yet in XCX DE or not yet? The problem is the sounds files are dumped in one single CPK and they're using the scripts to reference the sound files instead of the old Wii U way of filename and hierarchy folders.

A couple things complicate this; the changes to the file system, where they moved over to a hashed list system... and the packaging. Getting the files unpacked is pretty straightforward, IIRC - masagrator wrote a python script for extraction found in a post on the first page here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/xenoblade-x-replace-music.668397/ and then foobar2000 and the vgmstream plugin will allow you to playback the extracted .wem file(s) right in, and foobar will also let you convert it out to a different format for editing... though doing the same thing in reverse.... I'm not sure if repacking has been tackled yet.

Yeah it's much more difficult to decompile all these in general. I have gotten the .wem files to already convert to .wav so that's not an issue at this point. i assume most of the BDats are just text scripts currently for the Quests, Chapters and Dialogues because going through them has already been a huge nuisance already. If I had more free time I would definitely constantly search for those post battle voice scripts if I could. If anyone does figure out which files it is please let me know I would really appreciate it.

Regardless hope all of these projects go well.
 
Hello, I've contributed a bit to the previous XB2 deloc patch. I'll be highlighting some parts that needs changes as I play along.

So far, for the quest JP:The Saintess of NLA/NLA's Saintess EN:Hope Springs Eternal, there's still some bits where the name hasn't been changed, menu/quest etc.

As for the Nopon dialogue in that quest, 8-4 really likes having Nopons speak in 3rd person and dumbing down their dialogue to make them seem stupid, when in fact, not all Nopons speak in 3rd person and that their gimmick is ending sentences with "mo" or in XB2's case Hana ends them with "desumo".

JP:Ruririta EN: Lularita's dialogue in this instance, does not speak in 3rd person.
Also something else to note, they do mention Cauldros (Kurogane) in that cutscene.

EDIT: Been a while since I came back to this site, the spam filters really hates JP words huh.
The description for the Art Star Field still references Astral Heal and Purge.
The name of the Art Frame Hand seems a bit iffy, since the icon for that does have a flame right behind the hand.

Might want to change Testamenters to Testament, considering the original name is just that.

To add to that, ト and ドends with -o and the Japanese language doesn't quite have letters that end with consonants except for ン (-n).
So in the case of テスタメント te-su-ta-me-n-to, it would be Testament. テスタメンタ-, instead would be Testamenter.
EDIT: finally got enough post count to enable Japanese letters. No idea why these are in the spam filter lmao, makes it hard to discuss languages.

(Person who worked on TMS #FE uncensor in the past here)

We looked at this back when uncensoring the Wii U version, but they completely removed the Hot Springs event by changing the lua scripts. The lua scripts were compiled as well. At the time, I believe someone did manage to decompile the scripts but weren't able to recompile it. In the end, the efforts that were required were deemed too much (and out of our capabilities) to pursue further.

As for the Switch port, at least uncensoring that like the Wii U version is completely doable, but the only issue is the endianness of most of the files were changed, requiring you to change each file individually. Simply re-using the JP Wii U files wasn't possible. Nobody had any interest in doing so, since Encore didn't really add much in terms of content to consider playing over the Wii U version.

(Sorry for the hijack! Just stumbled across the reference and thought it'd be interesting to explain the reasons why things are like they are.)
thx for the explanation, hopefully one day some mad man would make it possible for alot of these censored games to be uncensored
