"XENOBLADE CHRONICLES TO REACH EUROPE

Nintendo of Europe can confirm that it will be bringing the epic RPG, Xenoblade Chronicles to Europe for Wii. The title, already launched in Japan, brings to life a universe where two worlds called Bionis and Mechonis fight a war that knows no end.

Join the battle for Bionis to repel the invasion of a terrifying mechanical army and uncover the secrets of a mystical sword called the Monado.

Xenoblade Chronicles will be launching later this year for Wii featuring both English and Japanese voice-overs and will be fully subtitled in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Keep checking www.nintendo.dk for further information on this epic new adventure for Wii."

woaa, this is a good news !
dub and sub-title choice are what fans always ask

it's strange that the name got renamed. Maybe a copyright problem again ?

Wow, I'll be damned! I really didn't think this would ever happen. Great news! The sub and dub being available is wild, looks like they're treating it like a big budget title (not like Fragile and Muramasa where it was sub only).

Well guys, we had some fun and killed some time but there's obviously no need to continue the translation project. I'll leave the google docs up for a while in case anyone still wants to play around.

Thanks to Zeforte, linkzeror2, iamatmylimit and sephy for their work!

Im surprised as well.good news for everyone for sure.ill leave the tutorials up as well.ill remove em in about a month.

It was fun working with Zeforte, linkzeror2,HisshouBuraiKen and sephy.all cool guys.

My only regret is that I discovered Xenoblade so late, and that in a phase where I hard hardly any time.

But it was a fun ride, and I'll be all over The Last Story if there're no announcements by the time E3 rolls around.

Sweet!
I'm glad this wasn't posted on April 1st. I guess we'd all be super pissed if a gaming page had used this as an April Fool's joke. ;D
Well then, let's look forward to the release! It was nice working on this even though I didn't get around to doing much apart from the ene_arts list and some other things.

Cool beans. Completely unexpected as well, but I'm glad that more people will finally hear of Xenoblade.

Maybe not the right thread, but will my save from the japanese version switch over to the PAL when I get it? Or will I have to use some program..? I got pretty far, and don't want to start over too much. :/

yea thanks for all your hard work guys, youre awesome. iamatmylimit, yea you should probably archive all of your work somewhere(files + tutorials) just incase anyone decides to go ahead and translate the game anyway in the future. the pal version of xenoblade could end up having differences in the game that some people dislike. like when groups translated final fantasy 4 and 6 on the SNES back in the day even though we had american versions(2 and 3). just a thought.

Using Savegame Manager GX, you can copy saves from a region to another

- Play the PAL version once
- Launch Savegame Manager GX
- Backup both PAL and Japanese version to SD
- On PC, copy the files present in the Japanese folder into the PAL folder (or rename the folder from xxxx4A to xxxx50, or to xxxx45 for NTSC-U)
- Back on wii, use Savegame Manager GX to restore the PAL save to the Wii

But it's working only if the game use exactly the same data format.
An RPG could store more information than the Japanese version, like Subtitle & dub choice, maybe new items to unlock, new missions, new logs (boss/item/mission completed) etc.
If it works, you could end with a player name garbage if they used 2bytes long letters on Japanese version and converted everything to 1byte long. (Xenoblade seems to use usual ASCII along with shift-jis so it should be fine).

You will have to try it to know if it works.

im gonna work on another project for sure but first i want to get more into coding.....i want to be more involved next time on the programming side.

Thanks a lot Cyan! I knew of the Save Game Managers, but I didn't know which one was the best and/or how exactly to go about doing it. *crosses fingers.
I really hope it does work out, when the PAL one comes out.

And since I didn't say it last message,
THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!

It really has helped me, and no doubt tons of other people too. Even though a translation's coming out, I'm still eternally grateful for what you guys have done.

Thanks again!

Hi I was wondering if you still wanted a translator from Japanese to English on Xenoblade ?..

I am willing to take a shot at it, though it will take a while since there is a lot of dialog.

if I can be guided to the script files then I can get to it.

GEEZ! Did you forget to read first dude? Of course it had to be his first post...*sigh*

No need to be sarcastic, you could just answer him.

Nintendo announced the localization, so the team stopped working on it.
But there are still files who need a translation for the "menu patch" only, and maybe some users would want an updated english menu until there's the official release.

Though, there are still too many problems to make a correct translation, the pointers for string's length are not working (so you can't translate properly, you are limited to few letters), and there's a space error too.
I don't think hackers are still willing to work on it, as the game will be released officially in multi-4 sub and en-jp dub option.

But thanks for providing your help.
Maybe you could find another project where you can be useful

there's a thread with all the current projects, you can take a look.
