2K's reboot of the classic sci-fi franchise XCOM is coming sometime next year, according to the publisher's updated list of games it plans to showcase at E3 next week.

This morning, 2K revealed it would be showing eight titles at the event. Both XCOM and Spec Ops: The Line, which were listed for release in 2011, are promised to be on display. No specific release dates for either title were provided.

Other notable titles, including Mafia II, Sid Meier's Civilization V, and 2K's NHL and NBA franchises will also be making the trip to Los Angeles.

During a conference call yesterday, 2K parent company Take-Two noted development of XCOM at 2K Marin may cause the company to find a different studio to continue the BioShock franchise.
