Hacking Question XCI to NSP conversion however ticket is missing

Hi!
To install an XCI file I always am converting it to an NSP and afterwards install it with USB Thinfoil. However this always gives me the warning that no ticket was found/installed which leads to the result that the software is not launching. Commonly if I'm lucky I find an update nsp, which solves this problem. However when there is no update, I'm not able to launch the software. Is there some step I am missing? Or what causes this problem/whats a workaround for that?
