Hacking Wreck it Ralph USA NDS

Hi,
I am new to DS roms and wondering if this rom is safe to use on a r4 DS with firmware wood v1.53.
Or if there's some sort of guide somewhere which states which roms are safe to use on variations of firmwares without the possibility of bricking my DSi XL ,

No roms can brick your r4 or your dsi. In the worst case you just won't be able to launch the game. So test it.

Okay very cool thanks i never knew that,
So when people brick the machine its because of what ?
I thought it had to do with the game being played had a firmware update from Nintendo to upgrade the software
and it was too new of an update for the firmware installed by the flashcard firmware
therefore it bricks system making your NDS not usable

please explain i don't ever wanna experience a bricked system

You can't brick a DS or 3DS.
On the 3DS if u don't have the latest firmware and you update the 3DS before the flashcard, then the flashcard gets unusable.
So u need a DS to update the card,after that the card is gonna again work on the 3DS.
