Now I'm not that great with the whole server-packet stuff, but I believe that the 3DS now has the hardware to have more intense online capabilities. Now games like doom could be ported to systems like this and have amazing potential. Personally I'd like to see Mario Kart with 16 players, but that's not cooperative.

Anyway, what games do you think have cooperative potential on the 3DS?

Why wouldn't it be possible? DS already had it, not perfect but it still did, so the 3DS will most likely have a fully featured Steam-like thingy for co-op online.

What does Steam have to do with co-op? Unless you're talking about the friends list with joining games in progress.

I'm sure he means that the 3DS might feature something akin to Steam, which in itself has the ability to add other people to your games and send invitations to friends who aren't currently playing the same game you are, thus making that feature "like Steam's method to co-op." Which, might I add, would be pretty awesome.

Yup, that's exactly what I meant. Thanks for explaining it for me

The player limit was because of the crap wifi card in the DS.

That's why you get less players and features during online, but many more features on local.

So we can expect at least 8 players.
See you all online!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll have persistent friend lists and the like, as it was announced to have better social integration.
There's persistent WiFi to communicate even when off.
I just really hope there'll be a badass UI. Something minimalistic.

I do remember not being able to connect to certain WPA connections.
