Okay, my Dell Dimension 4400 is said not to support SATA, hence why i have none on my Motherboard.

so im not exactly sure if a Sata card with a VIA Chipset would work or not, would it?

Joe88 is right but I will say do not even consider that card you linked: it is a silicon image chipset which do not play well with several drive models (to the point you may well end up bricking the drive if it is a Hitachi).

As mentioned you can probably get a better deal if you are willing to venture online but "VIA VT6421 Chipset" is the magic word: go right ahead.
