Hey, i have a switch on 5.0.1

Is there any point me losing my zelda save and swapping it for a new one on an older firmware or is 5.0.1 likely to get an easy to accesss atmosphere/cfw?

If you get a lower console, be careful with carts as there have been revisions with higher firmware e.g. Zelda.

I would just wait it out, i am pretty sure with RCM mode exploit, 5.0.1 will get Atmosphere, maybe not on day one of its release but the systems door is wide open.
But you will probably need RCM at every boot. Not with FW 1.0.0.

4.1.0 is confirmed to have softmod only exploit which will be available at some point down the road. Not at launch, but sometime after. Could be a month, could be a year. They are waiting to see if they can use it to exploit new Markio chips once they hit the market.

If you want an untethered exploit, then I would say it's worth the swap. You can also back up your current save using Checkpoint Homebrew and Hekate mod on 5.x. You can't recover saves on 4.x/5.x yet, but it will be working at some point.

Besides, imo Zelda is worth another playthrough from start anyway, unless you have literally 100% and all armor upgrades.
