I don't understand in wich way wad manager works since all IOSes under 200 are without any bug.
It's because you're running the program in the boot2 (or cboot2, in this case), meaning you're running it without any of the Wii's blocks in place. cboot2 allows you to run Homebrew without restrictions, basically.

Do I need the original discs to run any of these 2 exploits or I can use my backups?

only if you have a modchip, else you wouldn't be able to run the backup...

Stupid me:)
Will it bring back the ability to play my pal backups? I am on 4.2u, and no motre region free. NTSC backups are OK.
That's all I need pretty much.

This doesn't work.
After the mistake of updating I could still run backups from HDD, that however is broken after these attempts to downgrade (which left SM at 4.2 but with a none-working shop channel)

Followed this guide to the letter, only broke more than was already broken

could anyone tell me how i can extract the boot2 v2 wad? i need it in order to install cboot2.

I need help on this as well.I extracted the wad from mariokart with wiiscrubber and used a wadunpacker but i only get three files
when i unpack it and from what i've read(Yes i did do a search) there should be 4 files.

I get the following files.

0000000100000001.cert
0000000100000001.tik
0000000100000001.tmd

Maybe im using an older unpacker program. What is a good one to use?
I had this problem as well and I solved it by using wad2nand instead of wad unpacker. I know that wad2nand was designed for installing wiiware/vc onto an emulated NAND, but it will unpack other wads as well. I think that wadder 3.1 will also work, but I can't personally confirm that it will work.

It's good that there is at least a fix for those with older consoles that accidentally updated...but...

cboot2 only works on a system using bootmii in boot2, correct? I've never used it before, so I am assuming here. If that IS the case, it would mean that this method to bring back cIOSes and trucha will only work on old consoles. Good for someone with an old console that accidentally updated to v4.2 official.

But, if you go buy a new system with v4.2 (and no vunerable boot1 to allow bootmii boot2 install) you are plain out of luck in ever getting cIOSes or trucha on your system. You'd be able to get the HBC, DVDX, and bootmii IOS....but that is pretty much it.

Hi Zektor, wrong, cBoot2 works with BootMii installed as IOS too.

Hi guys, first post and I'm looking for a bit of help.

I updated the HBC, DVDX and bootmii via the HBC online installer and all went well. I was on 3.2 and for some silly reason decided to try and update it. First silly mistake, I know. I then updated the wii to 4.2 and that went well as well, restarted the machine and the HBC was there along with everything else. I ran the HBC but nothing in there will load and I can't read from my SD card. Tried to press home in the HBC to run bootmii again but the option isn't there. Has anoyone any thoughts on this as it seems I have a half modded system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Then you must be really really retarded... First off, these are not attempts to downgrade.

Second, you should only follow the steps in my first post!
The other posts by me, fenrir, and panze were things we were trying to get the result that is in my first post!

For all other ppl experiencing problems getting a working cboot2.

You'll have to run Indiana Pwns or SmashStack exploit to install bootmii IOS with the hackmii installer.
After that you can continue with cboot2 part of the guide, and so fort.

you set up that email?

and with that cboot2.rar do you still need the BOOT2-v2-64.wad.out.wad?

After starting Wanins 4.2 updater I get the following:

Downloading "IOS70", please wait...
Downloading content #09... ERRORZ! (ret = -1)
Press and button to restart...

Why are you using Wanins updater?
This is not the good topic for wanins updater im afraid..

As I said earlier:

DO NOT USE METHODS IN OTHER POSTS THAN THE FIRST POST ( MY POST) IN THIS TOPIC !!!!

THE OTHER POSTS WERE EXPERIMENTS AND CAN/WILL BRICK YOUR WII!!!

and with that cboot2.rar do you still need the BOOT2-v2-64.wad.out.wad?

or is cboot2 good to go with that RAR?

The RAR has a precompiled cboot2, so you won't need the boot2 wad or pieces of IOS36.

Yes, good to go, just place the contents of (try this 1st) or (try this 2nd) in the root of your SD

DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR EXISTING BOOTMII FOLDER !!!

BECAUSE THE FIRST POST SAYS:

"So you updated your wii to Firmware 4.2 using nintendo updater? This is what to do:".

SO WHAT IF YOU'RE NOT ON 4.2, and have 4.1?
