Let's face it, 90% of the complainers will never actually use the source even if it was open to the public, nevermind be able to read it.

Most people who use open source don't use the source... directly. But the very fact that it is open source causes there to be indirect benefits. If in 10 years someone sees that it's open source and manages to use it to do something unpredictable like reencrypt your 3DS saves in a format that lets you port them to the 4DS holographic virtual console, or reuse the 3D code on servo-robots from the year 2024 that happen to be based on Nintendo technology, everyone benefits from it being open source. For that matter, just the fact that we know this can't get lost in 10 years when the developer loses interest, because it's open source, benefits everyone. Just the fact that everyone did not personally edit and compile the source themselves doesn't mean that everyone didn't gain from it being open source.

And I already have a Gateway, so I have no need to use this to pirate anything.

This is the reason behind this project. Everything so far is closed source and some people don't like that so they're doing their own thing.
Well it's a decryptable and reversible 16KB of code so I don't know why we don't just go that route instead of flailing away with buggy guesswork c code. This would just give us a solid arm9 base to work off of, from there on everything would be OSS.

Because having a clean slate, and source code that's available for public viewing (and improvement) is better than having to host the code on shady websites? Personally, I'd rather we not have to deal with DCMA takedowns for our kernel access.

Tested alpha 8 in 9.2 and dosn't show the capital letters at the begining of the phrases. Also, I am nobody to tell you anything, but would be great to support 9.2. A lot of Monster Hunter New3DS XL would thank you.
OSKA won't run the new3DS at this stage. 173210 has expressed interest in adding new3DS support after OSKA is finished and released for old3DS.

Like this one*?

Unlike the full Launcher.dat, this 16KB payload only has homebrew code. The copywritten parts were removed by roxas.

Come to think of it, aren't we already a pretty shady site? :P

I have two newb questions:

1. Can I launch this using the .cia version
of CN (I'm on Palantine rn btw)?
2. What are the things OSKA can do at the moment?

1. I don't believe so, as i think the soft reboot would throw you out of the CFW...
2. Not a whole ton. Yet. Right now, it does a lot behind the scenes, but only kicks out a few lines of text.

Fair enough. I'd still personally rather have something built completely from scratch rather than sourced from reverse engineering.
