Well honestly any kind of hack launching a firmware with higher privileges than normal can be called a CFW. You literally run a CFW eventhough it doesn't sit all patched in your nand.

Well to me that sounds like a loader, but than again I don't know the 3ds coding scene that well.

OK, just to clear things up for Dazzozo, it's just a plain FIRM loader, it only loads another custom FIRM file from the SD. Dazzozo happened to modify his to patch signature checks and redirect the NAND, we are planning on using this to do some scouting around the FIRM and possibly have a DS Profile launch method for KARL3DS. I'm hoping I'll have the time this weekend to get firmlaunch hax working, but we'll see.

Going a bit into the context of testing, I was lucky enough to buy a red N3DS and it came with 9.0.0-20 installed! Here are my results:
1. Garbled text on screen
2. faaffaaf
The rest after 2 (8 more tests were run) were succesfully displaying faaffaaf. Tough luck in not having sound in N3DS. All this homebrew I'd love to play with sound on that huge screen xD

That's govanify's le super leet explanation of gw's launcher. Except he just stole it from a gist that was in chinese and google translated it.
That's the same stuff you'd be re-implementing to make your own firm launcher, more or less.

We're moving our code to use firmlaunch-hax, and then we'll be able to port that to CN. That's the general plan.
