Don't feed the troll guys. It's better to ignore someone like this than letting this go totally offtopic.
It was and is awesome, and the people who lived this will allways know. So just let this guy be.

My response:

"Still an absolutely stupid idea to begin with, to put it lightly.

Hard to understand how it has over a hundred pages.

People should have been asking about a program that would allow people to play NDS games without an original game cartridge or flash cart.. while at the same time not being as daft as trying to emulate what already runs natively.

People could afford a 3DS but not a NDS flashcart too? Absolutely, totally stupid."

There were some threads talking about how there could never be such a thing as NDS Bootstrap and that it was "impossible" to achieve what NDS Bootstrap and twilight menu have accomplished. Perhaps thats why this method was attempted.

Ok. The guys will make sure not to feed you.

The gals will make sure, too.

Ah.

It's a Nintendo DS emulator for the 3DS mode of the Nintendo 3DS. However, it has been superceded by nds-bootstrap
These seem like two entirely different applications of DS emulation. I see potential to expand upon this. NDS-Bootstrap in my opinion is just at a stage where it can't really get any better without adding on some extras or fixing some very game specific game breaking bugs.

Nds-bootstrap isn't emulation. It's using the 3DS's native DS mode to run games. 3DeSmume, however, is.

That's not true at all
We're working on DSi Support for nds-bootstrap and there are plans for WPA2 for all games, etc

Besides, it's cross compatible with the DSi and flashcarts, something we can't say for this emulator

But isn't it running in 3DS Mode? switching out of this application must be much faster this way, no?

Mmm let's see:

Faster boot time from a 3DS app = Less preformance (10-15 fps at best) and 10%-15% compatibility
Slower (not THAT badly) boot to nds mode on the 3DS = 100% speed and nearly 100% compatibility

I can't find the trade quite fair.

Here's another re-upload of 3DeSmume cia.
This one also includes a sample NDS homebrew (that def works on both formats, and both 3ds models) and also, a 3dsx build because why not.

Keep in mind the sample completes in about 5 seconds on a real DS.
It shows, rather depressingly, how far we have to go.

Note: for the cia build on old3ds, it can take up to 30 seconds after boot for the homebrew to run
Thx for Download link :3

Why would anyone use this instead of nds-bootstrap, twilightmenu and such? I mean maybe it made sense 5 years ago but now we have all those, why was this bumped?

On the bright side, I got the oportunity to try the emulator, I was abscent from the 3DS scene from mid 2016 until mid 2019, so I missed it on the day it came alive. And even though we have TM++ already, I must say I'm very impressed how far this ended.

Ik I'm a bit late, but it would be quite cool to see this emulator get under development again sometime. Ik it's currently running in interpreted mode and nds bootstrap exists, but there's stuff a ds emulator could accomplish that nds bootstrap couldn't, for example upscaling resolution. I believe there's an OpenGL implementation for the 3ds, perhaps that could be looked in to for a speedup.

Hello, with new developments in screen recording/streaming, and remote play with wireless controller support using InputRedirection-Qt, I think this program has the highest likelihood of working on original NDS games while supporting these new software releases. The important part is that these work in the 3DS's 3DS Mode, rather than the NDS mode which is extremely limited and essentially locked down. The most capable thing I've seen in the NDS mode is Sono's TWPatcher. I wish this was still seeing developments, as I see applications in TAS runs on real hardware if inputs are streamed from a computer, even if it isn't running natively on the real hardware. I believe this software has it's own applications which cannot be superseded by TwilightMenu++ or Nds-bootstrap.

this is a dead project. I highly doubt anyone is going to add those features. And if they did, it still wouldn't run DS games at full speed. The 3ds simply isn't powerful enough to emulate the DS.

For anyone to improve 3DeSmuME, they'd first have to fix the source code in order for it to work properly with the latest libctru version.
When I tried getting it to build after fixing the reported errors from the compiler, the emulator would refuse to boot, crashing immediately after launching it.

A better alternative would be to develop a brand new DS(i) emulator/virtualizor tailor-made with the 3DS console in mind, in order to get the best performance available.
I don't know what the limitations of developing it as a .firm payload would be, but I think it'd work best that way, since there'd be plenty of RAM space available due to no OS running in the background.

EDIT: Ok, it seems no matter what's placed in the "main" code, the app instantly crashes after launching it. Doesn't matter if the first piece of code is "return 0;" or not.
