I assume that your Windows is supposed to be genuine then?

First, you should have run a virus scan (if a virus or other app changed certain system files, it will render Windows "non-genuine"). Second, you should've called Microsoft. Calling MS is the easiest way to find out exactly why it doesn't think you're genuine. EDIT: grammar -.-

That aside, it's always good to reset your PC/laptop every now and again. Keeps things clean.

Whether or not your windows is supposed to be genuine you could alway try using a crack/keygen on it. They are quite easy to find a torrent of and if you use a popular one it's most likely not a fake.

I won't tell you where you can find them, you know why.

It's entirely possible that your serial number was used somewhere else around the world numerous times and Microsoft assumed it's not legit.

If you have a Genuine sticker on your lappy, you should be eh-o-kay. Check if the number on it corresponds with the one inputted in the system. If so, call the Microsoft hotline for guidiance. I don't think that returning to a previous system state will do you any good at this point.

You could also take qlum's advice and use a simple activator to kill the serial-checking system entirely - it's not a crime if your system actually IS genuine, just being troublesome for ya.
