Ok,
I'm really considering getting windows 7 beta on my quad core cause i've got a 32 bit OS and and i've got 4gb ram so i really Need a 64 bit OS.
Anyway im wondering about product keys.
Dose it ask for one.
or
Do i have to use a vista key.
I hated f*cking around with vista when i pirated it..
Anyway i just want to know what im in for and do i need a key.
It says free on microsoft but my luck the dick heads want a key.
I've was brought up on a 98 computer and i used xp for a for ever!
I need to upgrade.
I dont plan to get the final windows 7,
I plan to stay on the beta untill the next windows.

I've heard windows 7 is speeder then XP.
I could just downgrade to XP if it don't work.
 
How about just ask Microsoft for a key!

As of now, the betas come with a automatic kill switch of Aug 1, 2009. No matter if you have a legit key or not, it will cease to run after Aug 1, 2009.

Do not install the beta on a primary machine as the primary OS.

You can only download the ISO in IE, so don't use Firefox to try.

Twenty bucks says someone figures a way around that killswitch before the end of the Spring.

On topic, I am currently dual booting XP and Windows 7, with no trouble. It seems like the look and feel of Vista with the speed of XP.

There was a time freezer hack for the Vista beta within days. Of course, this doesn't overcome the fact that it's still an early beta and you wouldn't want to still be running it still in August - a newer release with many bugfixes will doubtless be available by then.
 
You can install Vista with no product key and have 30 days to evaluate it
Boot from the DVD and start the installation
Select the Language, Time and Currency, and Keyboard
Click on Next
Click on Install Now
Don't enter a Product Key

Uncheck Automatically activate Windows when I'm online
Click on Next
Click on No to confirm you do not want to enter a product key
Highlight the version of Vista you want to install
Check that it is the same edition you have purchased (if you want to enter in a product key at a later time).
Click on Next
Check accept the license and terms

Click on Next
Install a clean copy and continue as with a regular install

PS: Why would you want to install vista?
It is a peace of crap!
i have a duelboot on my computer with vista and xp, i nearly always use xp.
Vista have some cool graphics but thats it.
You better can wait on the "New Windows XP" it is coming in 2010 it fixes many problems with
vista i heard.

So before you uninstall xp/linux/.... think about it!!

No, you get a key, you activate it and you have till August 1 to try it. After that, you won't be able to access the OS. I don't think you will be able to rearm the OS after that date.
 
I just finished installing Windows 7, dual-booted with xp.
I must say, Microsoft did good this time.
As previously said, this has the speed of xp and the sexiness of vista...except even more sexiness.....

Get the product key from the Microsoft website, and download the iso from a torrent, only because it's faster.
IF you want you can download it from Microsoft, but i just noticed a much faster speed from the torrent.

Only thing i don't like about this is the windows messenger is a bit weird, other than that everything is frkn awesome.
 
Ive got keys after i signed in to tech net
and went to microsoft keys site.

Theres a crack that freezes the timebomb, google if your friend.

EDIT2:What if i installed it without a key and the time bomb crack didn't work could I:

1:Go to my computer
2:click system propertie
3:go down to the genuine blah
4:Click activate windows
5:Put the key in
6:Win


SO in theory i dont have to reinstall xp over the time bomb
 
I wouldn't rely on a Beta for my primary machine. Even if the beta seems stable right now, it is no way near production quality. And if the system screws up, you're on your own. There is no guarantee that the Windows Update file format will not change until then. If it does happen, the current beta will not be patched from future threats.

If you wanna do it go for it, but if something goes wrong, have fun.
 
Yes MP3 I know the risk but im dedicated to windows and always will be, you could say im a fanboy
I've tryed linux an i wasn't used to it and it wouldn't let me install ubuntu
And I couldn't not be bothered doing a hackintosh

I'm used to windows but i DO NOT PAY!

No. It's a BETA test. It's not a final product. Why would you want to keep a BETA forever? Why would you even install it as a primary OS?

Till August sounds like forever..Anyways if you have quad core and 4 gbs of ram then just install vista, sure it doesn't have the speed as windows 7 but who cares I have quad core and 8 gbs of ram and vista runs smooth. It's up to you though.

I've done vista i couldn't activate it cause i pirated it....it was a dell oem of a torrent site 32-bit.
when i tryed it it was on my 1st computer I'm not sure what the specs were 1 or 2 GB of ram and a amd athlon.
I thought cause its a beta it would be easier to crack, I've always wanted to try linux and mac and other windows editions.
I may run them in VMware.
I used to have a vista 64 bit ultimate torrent coming but i crashed the computer that was downloading it and well, it was a vista machine :\.
I've never been a fan of vista
for reasons.

Can't calculate for shit eg:
I download a 20 mb ds rom on firefox save it to my desktop remove the rom number the the (U)(E) from the name copy it to my DS Flashcard and then it says its 40MB WTF!!! and the time it says is an Hour WTF 2.0.

Surcirity is just annoying like asking about it ever time you install something.

The only thing i liked about it was Aero Transparency.

my battle plan is to try the keys and cracks in a Virtual Machine and wait to the 1st of august and see or something to see that the cracks work...
I read somewhere to extent the time another 90 days so ill do it.
