ROM Hack Will using the newets Pokehex still put me at risk of save data corruption? (Ultra Sun/Moon)

I never worried about this before but I recently gave my brother my sun version which I haven't played in months, and He booted it up to a "save data corrupted" screen... So that was alarming.

Is it not safe to use the new pokehex for Ultra Sun/Moon?

It could, but you can just make two save backups. Edit one in PKHex and keep the other as a backup.
