You're going to need an Y-cable. But other than that I see no reason why it wouldn't work.
Be advised: sometimes Y-cables dont work if you plug both ends to the back of the wiiu. In such case plug the data cable to the top back usb port and the supplemental power plug to another usb power source like a regular usb wall adapter. This is what i have to do with both of my external drives.
