It's not COMPLETELY paywalled though as free alternatives DO exist. It's just one option that's paywalled,unlike, as you mentioned before, the Xbox 360. And even then it's only HALF paywalled since you only really need the OS's license to play backups, you can play homebrew without it

both, surprisingly, i don't have any paperclips, and dongles of any sort are relatively hard to come by in canada

Technically you don't need to use a paperclip, i've been using foil successfully for a while now and it's been serving me well. Though i have ordered a dongle from Aliexpress, the Atmosphere one, i think they ship worldwide so there's that

I beg to differ. The RCMLoader might just be even more slick than the SX one

Looks nice but to big for my taste....
And because the SX gear is not much cheaper than the pro many get sx cfw and be done with it
