Because if you patch your game the hard way, you can't play on AltWFC server anymore?
Because users prefer keeping a clean ISO for future use in case of patch update/etc?
Because it's easier to set an option in the loader instead of patching an ISO for users who don't understand how folder and files are working on a computer (and trust me, there are a LOOOT who don't)

Loaders and patcher are doing the exact same thing! it replaces https://nintendowifi.net -> http://wiimmfi.de
So why use the hard patch when the loader is doing it the same thing without the burden to edit the iso on computer?

The only exception is for Mario kart, the loaders don't patch the match-encounter algo, but it doesn't prevent users from playing online and finding random players.
The match-making algorithm patch only removes restrictions on player's level (which isn't better to keep for noob like me, who never played in 100cc or more than 10 times online?) and region restriction if I remember well.
Ah, the Mario kart patcher is also editing displayed text on error messages. not really required/useful.

I guess I can see your point. I'd rather see just one custom server service and that should be Wiimmfi. IMO it's silly to have two teams when all efforts should be focused on making one awesome service.

I would like that also but certain games only work on wiimmfi and certain games only work on altwfc.

For Wiimmfi:
That's a problem of testers and supporters. If anyone gives me a game setup file. I check it and enable the game. And then anyone have to tell success or failure.

Hi Wiimm, you are doing an awesome job!!!

I wanted to ask you, about call of duty games... is there a way to use a patch or connect to your server to at least be able to play on multiplayer mod against the bots? because if you cant login to Nintendo's WiFi Network... you cant!

How can we contribute with theses game setup files?

Warm regards.
Pepois

I think, all CoD variants use also Activisions servers. So there is no change to support it. However, if you try one variant, try World at War.

Contribution of game setup files:
Best is a download link or a code section in one of the forums.

the protocol is replaced from https to http (so I guess there's no certificate anymore?)
and the address nintendowifi.net to wiimmfi.de

Mario kart has additional patches (match making and onscreen displayed messages)

Hmmm, but how's the protocol changed? Is the game code modified, or is it just the connect string?
If the latter, then could it be possible to redirect https://nintendowifi.net to http://wiimfii.de JUST by using a WiFi router's redirect functions?

yes it's possible, this is how Altwfc is working.
You set a DNS address which edit the URL in realtime to redirect to altwfc server's IP instead of patching the boot.dol content manually.

If altwfc had fixedIP or domain name, we could patch it in the loaders too instead of using DNS trick.
But maybe altwfc is not fully working like that, because I got only vague answers when asked which domain they were using.

Yes, it does that, but AltWFC still needs something running on the Wii to bypass the authentication.
Which is why I asked it wiimmfi patches authentication out, or if using DNS spoofing it would be able to connect even on non-softmodded Wii's (mine is modded, but a friend of my doesn't and he refuses to do it)

If using https, the Wii verifies the certificates. Changing the URls to http, the Wii system makes normal http requests.

Are you sure that AltWFC don't need a https-to-http patch?
I think, that's only true for DS games, that never used https for the NAS connections. But for Wii games you need either
* Brainslug live patching
* USB Loader live patching
* A patched image.
And for Wiimmfi, there exists a Brainslug module that also patches the domain. But neither brainslug nor usb loader will patch staticr.rel.

Maybe I'm not up-to-date.

All three ways need a hacked Wii; homebrew is recommended, but a complicated procedure for every game start is possible (Run the Wii hack to start brainslug).

However, I have spent many time in this project and patching images works very well, so I see no reason to test or implement other ways. But I have no problems with third party solutions (brainslug and usb loader are third party).

Hi Wiimm,

All CoD games are back on line except World at War. I still think it would be wise to see how we can make them work with your server since probably they wont last too long I'm afraid.

A quick quesiton about PES 2013 PAL, I saw on the WiiMM games status page that there are some users playing that game so I grabbed it but when I try to connect it tells me there is an update available and that I should choose "download" to update the data. But of course I only get the A button circle and if I press it I go back to the previous menu. Can I update from your server? Do I need to?

Thank you
Pepois

EDITED: Nevermind, I just figured it, I had to go to the downloads section in the main menu.

I was wondering if someone was actually working on MH3 servors. More than being one of the best game to play online, it's a game that has most of his story online. No online on this game is just killing me, it is, without any hesitation, my favorite game...

I know that you have a lot of others suggestion, and many work to do, but I think i'm not the only one expecting the comeback of this game :p
Thank for answering me, and for all you've already done. ;)

While cleaning old not longer used database tables of disabled games I found a bug in MASTER, who tries access the table and terminated. So I decided to make a hot fix and to restart the server (all players were kicked). This all happened 30 minutes ago.

Problem with that: Even though Wiimm was using altWFC code before it was licensed, Wiimm has refused to help or join the two services together. On a side note, altWFC has the Pokemons and the DLC.
