Hi GBATempers. Finaly im getting a Wiikey and im going to solder it in myself.
What im unsure about is that ive upgraded to 3.1EU which make the setup disc unuseable whitout GCOS.
But is this "Setup" disc needed? Or can i live whitout it?
And the Upgrade disk to 1.9g is just the standart way with: insert disk wait for, cant read message rigth?

And can the Upgrade disk be burned onto a CD? or a DVD+RW?

The Update disk can be burned on a DVD+RW (use of a DVD-RW not recommended because of less compatibility) but not a CD. The Setup disc is unecessary unless you want to play reigon free games (same as reigonfriing it I think).

Thanks! Else i would have been wating my last CD+R

I thought DVD-R's worked much better than DVD+R's on the Wii... is this not the case with RW's?

So explain exactly what you need to do if you do intend on using the setup disc? How do you get that started? What is this GCOS thing?

GCOS is GameCube Operating System. It can be used to put multiple gamecube discs on 1 game. Since firmware 3.0 or so, Nintendo blocked certain setup discs. The new versions of these discs counteracted this by using GCOS.
You don't have to do anything special, the newest downloads of the setup discs are already fixed. Just burn them to a disc.
