I'd suggest searching for some youtube tutorials, since visuals always beat simplizations (if thats even a word...).

Sorry to hijack your topic but I'd like to ask something quickly.

Will the Twilight Hack savefile work with European version of the game ? Or alternatively, the US version.

More over, will the whole thing work, IF, I boot the US version of Zelda through Freeloader, since my Wii is PAL, and the game is ridiculously over-expensive in Finland. I have a friend at UK who owns Zelda and he could send it off on mail to me, but it would all serve no point if it wouldn't work this way.

i just installed the loader on 7 irish Wii's today ... yeah word got out and i got swamped ... and every one of them were under a month old and all had version 3.1E on them still , so the ones in the shops are still quite a bit behind so all is good
biggrin.gif

And yeah wiigators backup loader can be installed on any wii with the exception of version 3.4 - once thats on it your in trouble.

Digress means to move away from the main subject
I got my Wii yesterday from Amazon UK along with Wii Play, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, and Zelda Twilight Princess.
It has firmware version 3.3E.
It won't let me access the Wii shop (tells me to upgrade my firmware first) which I haven't done.
Does that mean I won't ever be able to use the Wii Shop if once I do the whole Twilight Hack/WiiGator thing?

Don't worry about the Wii shop thing, IIRC there's a safe update program in djtaz's guide that lets you access the Wii shop without affecting homebrew.

You could have just rent Zelda!!! O_O Then you didn't have to buy it. All you need to do is use it once to install the homebrew channel...which is simple. =]

Yeah but the game is excelent!!!

@mabilouz PM me and I'll be glad to help you step by step via msn (if you find it hard to do it)

Is djtaz around?
I'm going to risk it
My wii is going to die I just know it.

Maybe if I pray to the God of Zelda first

Right I have a Wii with firmware 3.3E on it
I have a copy of Zelda

What next?

djtaz is the guide in your sig valid still the Oct one. Because you have some gammafix December thing as well which do I do?

Ok Have you got a sd card ready and formatted?
Also i presuming your wii is connected to internet because wii shop channel asked for update ?

If the answer is yes then i would follow big moes guide:
here How to Hack wii Console For Dummies
I'll format the sd card now.
OK what next

Oh and it is a micro sd in a sd adapter is that ok?

Thank you for helping me
smile.gif

What do I format it to.

FAT or FAT 32?

Big Moes guide isn't stickied (how come)
And there is no link to his installer

Your SD micro card will probably work but might be a slower to draw info off, and you going to want to keep it just for your wii once set up so i would recommend you get a normal sd card cheap enough in (Tescos at moment).

EDITED Format it to fat 16. EDITED
Big moes is unable to post his installer as it contains Cios which forum rules prevent from posting.
I will send you the link He sent me through Pm so check you in box and enjoy.

--> Format to FAT (16)
Make sure SD card isn't larger than 2Gb.
Micro with adapter will work fine

Thanks guy really appreciated.

OK I installed the backup loader and Homebrew Channel using this guide
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=120338
because Big Moe was having internet problems and so I couldn't get the files off him.

I wanted to install starfall as well but with all the f ing and blinding going on at newbies yesterday I just thought stuff it I'm not asking any further so I just used the simple guide which didn't include starfall but nonetheless worked perfectly.

Any way to install starfall after installing the backup loader and homebrew channel? Or do I just stick with what I've got?

you can still install starfall just follow these points on big moes guide

*Prepair Wii Console For Downgrade:
__________________________________
(NOTE: this section only for 3.3 and 3.4 Consoles for lower versions go to next step)

1- Go to HBC and run (1-Wad Manager 1.3) , Select SD card to browse the Wad folder , select
(IOS16-64-v257-prod) from list and press + to install , now exit and reboot system .
2- Go to HBC and run (2-Custom Wad Manager 16) , Select SD card to browse the Wad folder ,
select (Cios_fix) from the list and press + to install , now exit and reboot system .
3- Go to HBC and Run (3-IOS Downgrader) and that will downgrade your IOSs to get advantage of
turcha bug .(if any errors accured run the downgrader again til no more errors)

------------------------------------------------------

*Downgrade/Upgrade Wii:
______________________
(NOTE: this is for all versions , 3.3 & 3.4 has to be prepaired in the past step)

in this step we are going to downgrade or upgrade to 3.2 because it is the highly
recommended version especially with the ability of installing Starfall with it wink.gif
(NOTE: if you want other versions it's up to you , you can choose to)

- Go to HBC and run (4-Cios Downgrader 1.2) and you can choose the version you want to
downgrade/upgrade to , the best choice is 3.2 and be sure it matches your region wink.gif.

------------------------------------------------------

*Starfall Installation:
_________________
(NOTE: only for 3.2 version consoles with TPH & HBC installed , not compatiable with
Japanees Region , only 3.2u/e )

- Go to HBC and run (5-Starfall v0.5) and press (B+1) to except the disclaimer and though
it says press (B+2) please don't just press B+1 and it will go to installation selection
you have to press A next to the choises to change it to install , personally I recommend
installing all it's options cause it comes handy :

* Replace healthwarning with backmenu
* Skip disc update check
* Region free GC games with video mode patch
* Region free Wii games
* Region free channels
* No mainmenu BGM
* Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller
* Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check

now with this one you are protected from banner brick and semi-brick with many other
excitments .
- How To Use Rescue-Menu:
a - copy Wad Manager V1.3 boot.dol to the root of your SD card ( already
included , you see it in the root of SD card )
b - Insert original Zelda game disc in the drive of your Wii .
c - connect GC controller to port 1 on your Wii .
d - hold the Y botton on the GC controller and power your Wii keep holding Y till
see Zelda booting and from the save load screen choose the TPH and run it by
talking to the man from the game , then crash and codes will run then you will
have Wad Manager V1.3 menu screen to uninstall the bad Wad wink.gif
and you are a brick-proof player from banner bricks and bad Wads
-----------------------------------------------------

the only thing is as that guide has been removed you may have already installed ciso fix and iso16-64v257-prod in which case you wont need to do that again

Do I delete what is currently on the SD card?
If not where do I put the files that I need to add in order to downgrade from 3.3E to 3.2E and add starfall?

Or would it be safer/easier to reformat the Wii and start from scratch?

Sorry - i was abroad on holidays - just spotted this now - did you sort it ?I had updated the stuff in my sig on dec 23rd i think

http://www.iol.ie/~taz/wii/WiiHowToGamma.html is the updated step by step guide i have - all files you need to do pretty much everything are in my guide.
Zip is in my sig - dont forget i had these guides written and out there before it was released since i was a beta tester and was given the loader pre-release so i could write the guides - the files are even stored on my server by wiigator , so mine was one of the first guides out there - and i update it regularly.

I know a load of guides have popped up since and i know some are really good that i can vouch for , but i cant guarantee they are all good - so if anyone needs advice i need them to use the files in my zips so i know they work.

You don't need to apologise.
Yeah you are right how dare you have a life away from the forum

Right what I did was follow a really basic guide the links to which have now been removed from the forum. Because it had links to a Cios download.
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=120338

It appears to work perfectly, sadly it didn't have starfall.

So I have the backup launcher and the homebrew channel. But no starfall.
I'm on 3.3E

Is there a way to take my Wii back to what it was when I got it and start again with your stuff?
