USB Loader GX can now play Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Excite Truck from an SD card. Is it possible to put the same fix into WiiFlow Lite? Thank you!

I cant seem to find it in settings or any info by googling but does wiiflow not have the option to unlock read speed in gamecube games?Nintendont itself has this setting. If it doesnt, whats the reason for it not being able to be added?

Hopefully a basic question ...

I'm currently playing all my Neo Geo games through a stand alone .dol of RetroArch 1.7.5 with "FB Alpha 2012 Neo Geo v0.2.97.29"

All games seem to run perfect but I get frustrated with navigating the menu and having to choose the core every time.

I was hoping to try running this through WiiFlow, adding box art and possibly have it return to WiiFlow after exiting each game.

I'm relatively new to WiiFlow and using plug-ins / bios ... how can i go about doing this?

I have downloaded WiiFlow Lite but cannot figure out how to really get started. Unsure how to find and select my specific plug-in. Is the bios/plug-in for my current set-up the .dol itself?

Any help is greatly appreciated
How did you go with this? I've also got FB Neo Geo roms working through Retroarch and now want to load them up in Wii Flow Lite. I've got set WFL up and Retroarch. Just need to know how to get the plugins going.

if you just want a loader for wii and gamecube games usb loader gx is very good. wiiflow can do wii and gamecube as well, but also be a front end loader for emulators that wiiflow calls plugins. although it can take quite a bit of work to set up everything for the plugins to work nicely.

the compatibility of WiiFlow are better
That isn't true at all. USB Loader GX can play more games than WiiFlow, which is why people are asking fledge68 to copy fixes from ulgx in this very thread and on WiiFlows GitHub page.

And you can't really argue that USB compatibility is better either, since they both use the same cIOS. So any drive that WiiFlow can load USB Loader GX can too.

With USB Loader GX the focus these days is mostly on compatibility and improvements for Wii games. But if someone really wanted "plugins" then they can just use SRLs that are installed to an Emunand. While single to loaders aren't the easiest to set up in bulk, the Wiiflow plugins/covers are probably just as tricky.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Overall I think the fact that both loaders (and cfg usb loader) exist and users have choice is a good thing.

GX always leads the way in Wii compatibility but WFL always catches up. Eventually (very soon) I hope and believe this. will be the case again.

Like @XFlak said, having a choice of 3 loaders is a good thing, many still prefer CFG, it is personal preference.

Where WFL stands out is the major reason most of us WFL backers prefer it. That is the additions of emulator Plugins! It takes WFL to a whole different level than the other 2 loaders, where it offers an Emulation Station that covers Everything the Wii has to offer.

There is a learning curve using the plugins but with the availability of the Plugins Pack, 75% of the grunt work is already done. It is a matter of dropping the Plugins Pack onto SD/USB, then adding your game/roms to their dedicated paths and adding Artwork to their dedicated paths.

It is well worth the time and effort, in the end it is a beautiful setup the other 2 loaders cannot compete with. I have all 3 set up for many years now and WFL gets all my attention for good reason. In my opinion, GX and WFL should always be installed, after a short time every user will figure out which is most useful for their needs.

just a little warning. Do not use main settings>adjust coverflow. it should be ok to go there and make adjustments but i don't recommend saving. for some reason it appears to have f'd up files on my sd card. ran windows scan check. it found errors and took forever. lots of files ended up being 32k in size. so now i formatted and i'm in the process of restoring them from backups i luckily have.

Hi, everyone.

I am having a really head-scratching issue with Wiiflow and covers for my NES games. They are the only ones with problems at this point. I hope you all can help me fix it.

I'm giving you the basic info:

My games are in USB1, my covers in SD.

Wiiflow_lite.ini (the one in the Apps/wiiflow directory):
I don't know why but the dir_box_covers defaults to dir_box_covers=sd:/wiiflow/boxcovers/Nintendo/NES. I just corrected it again.

And there's also this, which I don't know what it means at all...

My covers just won't create cache files, and even using CreateCache through Homebrew Channel didn't help any. The only time the NES covers were shown was when i had activated 2 plugins at once (fceu_GX and TX iirc) and the games were duplicated. The covers were showing on one set of games and not on the other. As soon as I disabled TX and left GX on, they all disappeared.

I don't really know what to do anymore. I'm stumped, so I would really appreciate it if any of you could help me fix this issue.

Thank you in advance.

EDIT: Okay, I apparently fixed the SNES ones when i changed smc.png for sfc.png... I deleted the SNES part from this post. I still need to fix one cover but I'll try to do that by myself. The NES ones are still a no-go, though.

Are your plugins installed on SD or USB?

dir_box_covers=sd:/wiiflow/boxcovers/Nintendo/NES ... is the path
and in your plugin ini
coverfolder=boxcovers/Nintendo/NES ... is the folder for your nes covers

so append them together means your covers should be in
sd:/wiiflow/boxcovers/Nintendo/NES/boxcovers/Nintendo\NES

the correct way would be
dir_box_covers=sd:/wiiflow/boxcovers

and in your plugin ini
coverfolder=Nintendo/NES

appended together you get
sd:/wiiflow/boxcovers/Nintendo/NES

also dont use \ only use /

Oh my God.... I can't believe that stupid line of code had me breaking my brain for months.

The line in the NES plugin was the faulty one. Thank you very, very much fledge68. And thank you for the help, too, RunningSnakes!

On another note: I am using Rhapsodii Shima as a theme and some game titles don't fit correctly on the upper right purple box where titles are supposed to be in: so far I noticed this on GBA, SNES and N64, since I don't have too many games or emulators in use. How can I fix it? If there's any fix to that.

Also, is there a way to fix the naming of the roms? As in, naming them like I want and Wiiflow displaying what I want it to display? For example, I'm pretty sure I named this game as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and not THE LEGEND OF ZELDA The Wind Waker for PAL, and I'd like to fix it if possible

Edit: I forgot about the looping source menu buttons! Any way to stop them from looping endlessly? I just want them to show once and that's it.

Thank you both.

as for main settings>adjust coverflow that i reported earlier. i'm not positive that was the cause of my SD problem. I just happened to notice corrupt covers and banners after using it. when i work on wfl i have to take it out of the wii and put it in a usb card reader for my pc. sometimes have issues with the card reader noticing the SD is insterted.

Hi everyone,

I tried the new version of Wfl 5.6 on my wii with the game Tintin but the screen stay black after the loading bar.
Went back with the version 5.5.4.1 and it works ok (except for the video freeze bug)
Anyone has tried that game with the new version ?

Thanks Fledge68 for your work all this years.

Hi, I've been trying to run The Smurfs: Dance Party using WiiFlow 5.6.0, but it just gets stuck on a black screen. I've updated the d2x cIOS according to the website https://wii.hacks.guide/, but it's still the same. I really don't know what's needed to make it run. I started using WiiFlow because USB Loader GX also gives me a black screen.

Hello,

Please post a syscheck report here.

Where is your game located (SD card, USB drive)?

If it's on a USB drive, the problem could be with the drive itself, which often causes a black screen.

It's best to use an external hard drive formatted as FAT32.

@fledge68 This is quite amazing and I feel like my Wii has transformed into quite an awesome emulator station - thanks for all your work!

I am trying to do some advanced setup and I can't exactly tell what WiiFlow is actually doing (by 'actually' I mean quite 'literally').

My goal is to set up Quasi88 in a way that's closer to BlueMSX-Wii in regards to command-line stuff (having both drives queued up with all disks when launching a file, mainly). While I know BlueMSX-Wii is likely coded to support the XML files, quasi88 purportedly supports command lines, so I think something may be possible.

At present, I'm guessing that when I select a file via WiiFlow it's basically telling the console "./executable file.ext".

hi, i do my experiments using ftpii on the wii side (https://wiibrew.org/wiki/Ftpii) and a ftp client on the pc side.
if you are on the same wifi connection, you can work on your files and upload them to the wii without removing your sd card.
Thanks for this comment; turned up as my first result in google when searching for 'ftp wiiflow'

As an aside - I was a tad surprised WiiFlow didn't have ftp built-in and running in the background; I recall that being the recommended way to add/edit files for Xbox hacks I've done in the past, and definitely would be nice to be able to update files without restarting WiiFlow (which ftpii at least helps bridge that gap a little).

Hello, I don't know what to do. At first, everything worked fine. I could enter the game normally and download the cheats in the options. After a few times, I don't have a menu. I can only click on the game and immediately choose to launch the game, and that happens every time. What's going on? What should I do?
