After seeing the video of the cover wall, I'm tempted to come to Wiiflow after using CFG USB Loader. I hear that CFG has the best compatibility - is this true? With Wiiflow, can you boot from FAT using 222, Monster Hunter working fine, block IOS reload, altdol menus etc etc.?

yes yes yes...all yes.
Both loaders have the same compatability.
Cfg has been more stable arround the latest years...however wiiflow is growing...and i've never had a problem with any game here.

I figured as much, but the "stable"-ness has put me off. I have no problems with CFG whatsoever, I'm just a glutton for making things look attractive. And boy does that cover wall option look attractive.

I switched to wiiflow from usbloadercfg about a year ago. It can play everything that usbloadercfg can. As far as stable any stable release will do you fine. I have never had crashes or issues on a stable release. Only when testing beta releases which was to be expected.

I would recommend you switch and never look back.

I concur....I started off with USBLoader GX....loved the thought of the all-in-one....pulled my hair out while dealing with all the bugs...switched to configloader for consistency and reliability...went ga-ga over the video of Wiiflow....was lured in by the new channel access feature....hook, line, and sinker....gonna take something real fancy to pull me away from Wiiflow, cause this is a graphical masterpiece....huge thanks to all involved in putting this together...r-win, Miigotu, Hulk, Hibernatus, Narolez, and certainly all the beta testers as well

I also started out with GX, then switched to CFG (because of ISO forwarders) and finally to wiiflow (looks nicer, has channel access). I can also confirm that these loaders can pretty much load the same amount of games (at least...I haven't discovered a game that can play in loader 1 but not in loader 2).

However, which loader to choose is mostly a matter of taste. Sure, wiiflow looks nicer and has channel access. But CFG has more configurable options (I still miss the option to change categories with a single click...or change the buttons to whatever I like). So...I'd say CFG and wiiflow are about up to par right now*.

*this 'll probably change if Miigotu pulls of his plans for nand emulation

The only games I know of that cfg can play but wiiflow cannot play are the sam and max games, which require alt dol+. Otherwise I believe that the compatibility of wiiflow is identical to cfg. It's also worth noting that miigotu may be looking into adding alt dol+ to wiiflow, which would give them identical compatibility. The releases of wiiflow have been very stable, and you will not have any problems with them.

As for my choice of usb loader, I started with GX and switched to wiiflow when it was first released because GX was so buggy and unreliable. I use wiiflow for almost everything, except for alt dol+ (using cfg), and NAND emulation (uLoader). If those two features get added I'll have no reason to use anything other than wiiflow.

OK - may be a silly question

Currently I'm using 'Configurable USB Loader' for my HDD backups - which I do like, but after seeing WiiFlow, I'm tempted to try it out but.......

... I AM a total newbie (I used 'NUS Auto Download' to Softmod my Wii - so everything was downloaded/installed without much interaction from me), so I don't really know what the difference between all those WiiFlow versions are

They are all v2.1a2,They are all r92, but have all different cIOS - of which I have NO idea what the differences are between them (& to be honest I don't want to go through 161 pages of posts to see if there's any mention of them), & I don't want to install the wrong one (or do I have to install ALL of them ??)

Any help appreciated from this newbie - thanks

If your games are on a FAT or NTFS partition, you'll want to use the 222/223 one. If it's a straight up WBFS partition, you want 249/250.

Do you know if you've installed Hermes' 222 and 223 cios?

It doesn't matter if your on fat32,ntfs, or wbfs you can you use 249/250 as long as your using cios rev18 or rev19 they both support fat32/ntfs loading.

I believe v2.1a2 249 is the recommended one to use because 249 has faster loading times then any other version.

Wiiflow is currently built into 5 bases.
222
223
224
249
250.

You can use either one of them, however their results might differ, depending on wich cIOS you have installed in your machine, and how you have installed those cIOS (wich base you used).

To make a long story short, i'd advise you to use:

- If you're using fat loading and you have cIOSrev19 installed on base 38 (you can check at NUSAD tut), use version 249 of wiiflow.
- If you're using wbfs loafing, use 249 of wiiflow.
- If you're using fat loading, and you're unsure with version of 249 NUSAD set for you, use 222 version of wiiflow.

Any more questions, drop them by here.

Im using WiiFlow 249, I can see my games on the HDD ( fat 32 ) but when I try to load them I get "disc_usb failed"

I believe that was a bug in earlier revisions.

What version of wiiflow are using? I know its 249 but is it 2.0? 2.1? ext..

@ yatesl, icebrg5 and Pakatus: Many thanks for the replies

Well I've looked @ NUS autoguide (luckily I had a backup of it) & I'm still confused. IF I'm reading it right - it has installed 222,224,249 AND 250
You're unique list of wads to install are as follows:

* IOS11v257(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP])
* IOS20v257(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP])
* IOS30v2817(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP])

Since Pakatus has mention 'If you're using fat loading and you have cIOSrev19 installed on base 38' (My HDD is formatted to FAT32 BTW) - I'm guessing that I have in fact got 'cIOS222 installed on base 38' - I'm guessing the 'base' is the number in the square brackets

If so am I correct that I should use the '222' version then ???

This has nothing to do with wiiflow versions. You need a newer of version of cIOS249 installed to run 249 version of wiiflow and have games on fat32.
Run waninkoko's ios installer with rev18 or higher to fix, or use wiiflow 222 version.

You can use either. Both bases are good to go
smile.gif

38 is more general base, 57 is quite a good base to load games.
You can use either 222 or 249.

if your wanting to use the channels feature of wiiflow you must use 38 as a base for your cios otherwise the channels option will not even appear.

Just throwing that out there.

Ok i finally converted my HD from wbfs to FAT32. I notice know big delay when loading a game.
After selecting a game and start, it takes longer to load the game. (Background music keeps playing, and please wait is showing).
With WBFS this wasn't the case, after selecting a game it started imediate.

I using normally hermes 222 V4 b37 merged b38, but also 249 rev 19 has the same delay. Is this normal behavour with fat32 and wiiflow?

I also noticed that when compiling the latest source (r115), it is alway base 222 what shows up in the about screen.

I use the command "make ios222" or "make ios249", the result is now always a 222 base?

wiiflow loads fat32 just as fast for me as it did when i was using wbfs

Also since i switched to fat32 wiibackup manager transfers iso files to the hard drive twice as fast as it did when it was wbfs.

r115 is on the ftp, come to irc to get it. Also, if its always showing 222, I'm betting you have an old version of wiiflow installed as autoboot to priiloader, or a full channel which launches an old wiiflow. Check the rev# in the update screen.(if you even have that)
