djtaz, sorry to see you having so many hassles with your site, i for one really appreciate the effort you and others put in to make it so easy to use.
If/when it's running agian, and hibern has implemented the login feature i will gladly donate for the bandwidth i use.

Cheers

I already check mime types and i thought i had covered all of the special characters , but i must be missing something somewhere - ill check them all again later when i have time , but i havent even had time with all the trouble ive had recently, which is a catch22 situation.

On the plus side, Every time this happens i get locked out and i re-upload the site again , which means i have 3 copies of an untouched site now and a list of what ip's were online at the time it froze on each

its just a matter of going through them and starting to block IP's

I also want to thank everyone for the supprt and understanding your giving while the site is down - it takes the pressure off me a bit and makes life a bit easier so thanks again.

Probably now. The site kept getting attacked and the host is crap. Hopefully it will appear somewhere else if not then you will have to get your lazy ass manually sorting your covers. I wish people would stop expecting to be spoon fed all the time.

It's not only a matter of "manually sorting" covers. Many people here have no intention of mass-downloading, and simply need a place to get the covers period, even one by one. Console-covers.com is nice enough, if you don't mind resizing and renaming the images yourself, but even they won't let you download more than 5 covers in 24 hours unless you pay for a premium account. Where else might you suggest going? I think it's completely ridiculous that people are bitching that djtaz is charging for mass downloading, then in the same breath redirecting people to console-covers.com, which does the same thing but on a much more profit driven level (whereas it appears djtaz is just trying to keep the wiiboxcovers afloat without going broke). That site is clearly making plenty of money.

I think alot of people didn't realize the value of the service djtaz was providing, until it was taken away. I also think a whole lot of people in this thread are directing their anger in the wrong direction. Why the hell SHOULDN'T he charge for bandwidth usage that he otherwise has to pay for himself, just so schmucks can download 300 covers at once for free? If the site ever manages to get back up and running, and Hibern's loader adds support for the new user/pass requirements, then I'll be donating in a flash.

Just replying to give djtaz some credit and support. I appreciate your great work and for me as a relative newbie to using the USBloader and using the covers with the USBloader, it saves a lot of time finding and resizing the boxarts. I chose to donate some amount of money for that. Other people don't want to donate money for that: then that's they're choice. Simple as that I think.
Once again, I hope djtaz continues his great work. I didn't mind donating a small amount of money for a bigger amount of time spent by djtaz in this service and for don't having to pay for a lot of games.

I donated a small amount of money too and I have to say that you did a great job taz!

Although I just came home to download the covers since I didn't have enough time to download the packages and found out the website is suspended

The site is currently back up, and am i thinking correctly that if you want the USB loaders to use this site we pay (which is fine with me)

EDIT: Nevermind it was up for all of 2 min....

It was too good of a service to last for free!!! Worth paying for, but so are games, and the amount of work that's gone into piracy still isn't anywhere near the amount of work that goes into a retail game, life eh!

You know you can get all of your covers from right here on GBAtemp. Go into the Releases part of the board, find the game, download the cover. Will you have to rename and resize them? Probably, but they're already in PNG format.

Oh, boo-hoo they're not the 3d covers. Big deal.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
