if any one can help can you please keep it as simple as possible, as ive said im a very new person to this

Try updating the chips firmware looks like you need some sort of membership to download the firmware (sorry I have limited knowledge of wii mod chips)

Since you're on 4.1 you could softmod it which is much easier in my opinion http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ there's no reason why you can't have both a hardmod and softmod.

Hope it helps

1. Update your Wiikey 1 to v1.99 BETA
2. Update your Wii with ModMii, chose 4.0 to 4.1 to get the latest IOSes
3. Install priiloader 0.4 (ios236 mod), block updates / disc updates.

edit: 4.1 is the best SM.

"Since you're on 4.1 you could softmod it which is much easier in my opinion" Yes, but what is the point when Wiikey 1 has 100% compability and softmod doesnt?

cause then the original poster could forget about disc and updates by use USB loader instead

Then he has to buy an HDD.

Also, USB Loaders aren't 100% compatible, and they tend to need more maintenance/updates than chips do.

What games are USB loaders not compatible with?

And in my opinion, changing a few settings (occasionally) and using Wii Game Manager to put a file on the HDD is MUCH more convenient and less maintenance intensive than burning an ISO to a disk to find out you got a bad burn, a bad ISO dump, bad media, etc...

a 100 spindle of good media [verbatim or taiyo yuden] is $25+

a decent hard drive is $50

the ease of use and gui is well worth the money

I have heard of people updating to 4.2/4.3 with wiikey and it stops loading all disc. Sometimes updating the firmware helps, sometimes not. Not very common, but possible. Also, once you go past SM 4.1, your wiikey will not be able to play any out of region games.

If your going to use the chip, delete the update partition on the iso before burning the disc. You can use wiiscrubber to do that.

Update only the ios used to load games, stay on SM 4.1 running on ios60-v6174. Don't ever fuck up your system ios by installing a stub ios60-v6400. Update your ios by running bannerbomb v1 or v2, use BB to load Multi-Mod Manager. Then you can update any ios or channel you like via wad install without modding anything on your wii.

Life would be better for you if you softmoded your wii, installing HBC Bootmii, priiloader and use a USBloader. Much Much Much better, loading from disc sucks.

Metroid Trilogy and a CSI: game come to mind...anything with multiple DOLs won't work properly.

100x Verbatims are $20 here.

Anyway, the OP just wanted his chip to work again. He can do that for free. Plus, he already spent money on the DVDs he has.

How about reading my post?

"Life would be better for you if you softmoded your wii, installing HBC Bootmii, priiloader and use a USBloader. Much Much Much better, loading from disc sucks."
Your opinion. Not mine.

After reading tons of "Game X doesnt work with USBLoader Y with CIOS Z" i prefer modchips for its 100% compability. and DVD-R discs cost almost nothing now days.

Staying at 4.1 with priiloader with the latest ioses rocks.

Edit: Yes, ive seen people with 4.3 unable to read discs, why update ? And did anyone ever confirm it was the chip ? (tried it myself with bootmii@boot2 and i didnt have any problem)
