Hacking Wii Update

I have a softmodded wii with 4.2. I need to access the Wii Shop Channel so i can download the Wii Speak Channel, but the store is asking me to update the firmware. Is it safe to update? If so which is the best way to go about doing it. I softmodded my wii quite recently using the excellent guide provided by xzxero.

I usually don't trust is as it may mess up my homebrew. You may want to seek out an alternative means of getting the wiispeak channel...

Install the latest IOS61 (without patches) and latest Shopping channel and it'll work again

use nus auto downloader to do the job!

or u can use the original nus downloader and a wad manager... or wifi and dop-mii

or use dop-mii, and do it from the wii. easy.
