Hardware Wii unable to read discs

Hello!My Wii has been working perfectly until one day,it stopped reading my discs :/ Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

Could be a dirty lense. Is it all games (Wii,GCN) or just Brawl/Other M. You will need either the Wii Lense cleaner kit or a tri-wing screwdriver to clean it your self.

If NO games read then your drive is probably bad. you will need to replace it or use a USB loader for games.

Last of all, you could send it to Nintendo for repair.

It may help, but most likely, No. Your best (cheapest) option would be to get a USB HDD use a USB loader like WiiFlow in conjunction with Dx2 or cIOS. it can launch wii games faster then discs and if you have DIOS MIOS (lite) to launch GCN games of HDD or SD it kinda makes the disc drive obsolete.

When mine stopped reading discs (from kids jamming things in there like 2 games at once) I ended up buying a replacement disc drive for it. Got it from Amazon for $25-30. That is likely cheaper than the cost of a harddrive.

It was really easy to swap it out following some intructions online. Took about 15 minutes and my Wii has been working great since.

Nintendo repair costs around $100...you can buy a used Wii cheaper than that (also if your wii is modded they will refuse to repair and send it back to you)

If your drive is not working you won't be able to rip your games and would have to have someone else rip them for you or find pirated copies to download. But USB loading would work fine even with a broken drive.

Well there you go. tack on a $2 tri-wing screwdriver to open the wii. Now that i think about it, some GC games from an HDD reqiure a disc of some sort to run properly (not sure why).Try to replace it then unless you can find a $12 320GB HDD like i did.

Imho you want both.
A harddrive to make switching discs unnecessary. (more comfortable and eliminates all reasons for the kids to handle anything except a switch on a power strip)
And a replacement wii disc drive to actually get the games onto the hdd.
